Lots of aircraft on the ground to look at and even climb through.

Everything from helo's to B1 bombers to The Memphis Belle. Oo.

IT WAS NUTS!!!

I got to get a free internet image hosting thing going, I got some really nice pictures.

The Angels did their high show, it was beautiful. :D

Perfect weather.

Eric: I watch both the Blues and the Tbirds as much as I can every year. I enjoy them both, but I am a little partial to the Blues: F-16's just can not do a dirty roll on take off?? 2 engines always sound better than one?? Maybe I am partial because my first plane was a Grumman?? I have been fortunate to be allowed to static display my airplane during two different shows at Lemoore Naval Air Station and of course they put us up in rooms and fed us and transported us to the flightline during the weekend. One of the best airshows I ever witnessed was a MiG-29 at Laguna Seca Raceway in 1990. Three times that weekend the 29 showed his stuff.

I'd love to see a Mig sometime.

There was a pretty good show this past summer in Atlantic City.

There were no Blue Angels or Thunderbirds. No demonstration teams, just aircraft. It was still a good show. It was as if they were going to land on the beach.

All kinds of aircraft. Flying low and slow, and low and fast.

I'll be going to see the T'birds in AC in the end of August.

I have to get a 1gb card for the camera. :-laf

What camera are you using? I have a Canon 20D and a 512 card at the smallest setting held 1000+ shots. I am itching to try it out on aircraft. I used it earlier this year at the Daytona 500 with pretty good results. The MiG-29 was at California International Airshow and he would come over to Laguna Seca and rattle the track during his performance. The tailslide was well worth the price of admission and it was as loud as anything I have ever heard before(except a B-1 Lancer).

<grin> N Dennis, he's using a Canon PowerShot A400. All of the EXIF tags are preserved in his photos.

I saw the Blue Angels some 15 years ago in Traverse City, MI during the Cherry Festival. Normally, I avoid TC during the Cherry Festival like the plague, but I had to see the show. I rode my motorcycle in, figuring I'd ride past the Open Space Project at the foot of West Grand Traverse Bay where they were performing, go find a parking spot and walk back. As I drove by, there was a police officer waving everyone off from the entrance to the marina, even people with boats. Except... . she was waving everyone with motorcycles in! They'd set up a special parking area for bikes only! Hot dawg..... watched an incredible air show 100 yards from my bike, and the announcer's stand was right in front of me. And I was one of the first people out of town when it was over.

Back on a camera note, I've got a Canon Digital Rebel, with 3 256mb cards, and a 512. I shoot large fine mode. I can alse reduce an image, but I can never get back what I never had. See http://chixjeff.dnsalias.net/Fall_Fling-2004 and http://chixjeff.dnsalias.net/BOTW_2005 for some examples.

I dont have all the pictures up yet, I'm on a dialup so it's pretty time consuming to put them all up at once. :{

I should have set the camera on a lower setting. :rolleyes:

Let me know if the link dont work.

Eric

I thought you might be interested in knowing that I have repaired that B-1 in your pictures several times.

When I was a younger enlisted USAF troop, my job was repairing the fuel systems on B-1s and C-130s at Dyess AFB, TX. I loved that plane. The B-1 is one of the reasons I joined the AF.

Yup A Cannon A400. Set on the high setting with a mizerly 32mb card wont do many pics. :{

Thanks for keeping her flying Hohn. It made great shade as shown in the pictures. I'm very suprised that they had the bombay doors opened.

Only a few short years ago a picture like that (I dont think) could be taken.

My little brother is a mechanical engineer for the navy. He's lead engineer on C-130 propulsion. I asked him how long they'll be in service. He told me "theyre going to fly them till they drop out of the sky". :-laf

BTW we parked about 100 yds from the tarmac. No security checks!!

We did however see metal detectors in abundance being employed almost everywhere.

On the way out we took a special shortcut. The Air Force security WAS NOT AMUSED, but being we sat for over an hour w/o moving, I told my wife to "go under that rope" and she listened. :cool: :-laf

On that shortcut we got an up close and presonal of the KC-130's that circle overhead here on a daily basis. :rolleyes:

Mrs Patriot unknowingly was headed for a large vertical tank marked JP-8, so I told her to "turn this around NOW!!!!"

I think that's what PO'ed the AF guys. :D
