Another function of the throttle valve is to restrict intake air periodically to raise EGT enough to clean out the particulate filter. So I read somewhere...



I cant wait till the aftermarket figures these things out. You may have seen the last of the smoke stories, but eventually we'll be able to run at the levels we're at now. How long will it take? :{

I'm sure Marco will work on a Smarty for it, remove the EGT and the intake valve thingy and a straight trough exhaust and that thing will be all good. . :-laf

I think I read somewhere that the muffler is not considered part of the emissions crap so it can be legally removed by anyone who so desires. Kinda meaningless if ya ask me, but it's something.

It has a muffler as well as the DPF? As if running the exhaust through a brick wont quiet it down enough. Maybe if we lop the muffler and run a 10" straight after the DPF we might find half an exhaust note I'm going to really miss my straight pipe I hope AFE comes up with something that really brings out the turbo sound. Maybe there's another silencer ring to remove Oo.
