Possibly chalk another vp on the list.

I've got codes 0122 and 0216. I unhooked my high idler today to make sure it wasn't goofing up the APPS, with no changes. Truck sounds different at idle, and seems to have less power now.

Sure seems like the pump is on it's way out to me:( .

I am going to try resetting the APPS tommorow, is there anything else to look for?

Matt

Matt, you think that your Comp and stg 3 injectors exceeded your fuel delivery system? i don't remember seeing a FP guage in your pillar- was there one?

Before I did the max-flow, I would see 3-4 psi WOT with just dd2s and an unmolested wire! You were easily moving twice the fuel I was:)

I'd offer to help you wrench, but I am leaving for Italy in 3 weeks, and have a major inspection at work from now until then. Not much on the free time for now:(

Keep us posted. I hope there isn't a RMTDR virus going around that eats VPs.

You and GiesJ are both down with pumps-- but he's on #5:--)

I've got a pressure gauge in there, and 1/2" lines. Fuel pressure has dropped a little the last month or so. I had previously only been able to pull it down to about 5, recently it's been going down to 2. I thought I could get away with that for a little while... ... guess not.

I'm thinking if it's the pump, the new one will not get the pump wire hooked up. I've only got 35,000 miles, with great fuel pressure until the last month. I guess it's time for bigger, better injectors, and a timing only box.

I lost my pumps, both of them, while deadheadin back to Bristol, IN. As I remember I lost all or most boost. Called my Colorado DOC Reliance Truck & Auto, think he cringed and said, prolly an injection pump. Truck would run ok awhile, then limp along, then ok for awhile. Guess I'm lucky it made it back.

Cheers,

Steve J.

Matt, some Mach 3s or 3. 5s might be a good route to go. 3. 5s are enough fuel for 385hp+ with no wire tap.

Justin

EDIT: When I go EDM, I might just run the mach 1. 5s so I can have good MPG when not playing. I guess I'll have to tap the wire to get more power. Right now I am debating 1. 5s with tapped wire, or 3s with no tap.

Hey Matt!

Did you finish the LP move to the frame?

Let me know how it turns out, and if you have to DIY the VP44, I'll give you a hand. From what I've read, it's only about a four hour job.

You and jrandol both within a month... bummer.

Could it be that a hot rod VP44 is in your future??? Warrantied with a wire tap - mechanical only, not electrical failure.

Dare I say, it ain't so??

Today has been good for the truck. I have been driving it regularly trying to pinpoint the problem, while suspecting the apps may, in a way, be the cause of the 216 code.

This morning I was trying to take the apps off so I could swap it with a known working apps. Well, I couldn't get the throttle cable off, and didn't want to break it trying, so I tried one of dad's old tricks. I rotated the throttle/sensor shaft all the way and let it snap back a few times. Wouldn't you know it, everything works fine now, no check engine light, no weird symptoms. I even hooked the comp back up and played around on 5x5 to see if the codes would come back.

At this point, I believe I have an apps that could let go at any minute, and that the pump is fine. I will keep my fingers crossed for a while though, just in case.

Just got my ride back after being down for some time - VP #5 is in! what a joke. The pump wire ain't getting taped, so maybe EDMs are in my future if I keep the truck. If not, I am going to have one hell of a garage sale!

Matt - keep us posted and let me know if I can help at all. I didn't install my pump (Central Motive Power in Denver) but will help with whatever.
