Truck is an 06 5. 9 with a G56. Picked up a 3600DD from SBC last week in Indiana. Got the truck back together with no problems. Started the truck up and it made a rattling/grinding noise. (I have installed and run SBC DD clutches before and have never heard this problem) Regardless of whether the clutch was in or out, the noise was there.
After looking at a few things, we decided to pull the transmission back apart. All of the webbing on the inside of the bellhousing had noticeable marks on it from the pressure plate hitting them. The lower webs (at 4 and 7oclock) had the worst wear with at least 1/8" depth, and 3/4" long grooves in them.
Do I have the wrong pressure plate? Was I not supposed to use the crank/flywheel spacer that was included in the kit? Did I install something wrong? I am going to be calling SBC in the morning, but was just hoping for some insight tonight. Thanks for any help.
