southbend on ebay?

Just had it installed yesterday. Questions for those running this clutch: clutch engagement is fairly close to the bottom of the pedal compared to stock; which I think makes sense due to more pressure needed. Also has mild chatter when clutch engaged.

I think that's normal for a dual disk; just checking with other's experience.

Working out left leg so can keep the clutch depressed at stoplights! :D Doesn't even phase me shifting while driving; but I do notice the increased pedal pressure at stops!

Thanks!

Don't leave the pedal depressed at lights, put it in neutral. Less wear on the pilot bearing and throwout bearing. The reason for needing to push the pedal farther is that you now have more parts that need clearance from each other to achieve release. Used to be you needed some small air gap between the pressure plate and disk, and between the disk and flywheel. Now you need pp to disk 1, disk 1 to center plate, center plate to disk 2, and disk 2 to flywheel. So, you have to retract the pressure plate farther, more travel. This is normal.

I have the same clutch in my 2001. The 3600 PSI pressure plate definitely requires more pedal effort than the stocker. But like you said, only time you really notice it is when you are stuck in traffic or at a light. The engagement spot is a little closer the floor than the stock clutch as well. Give the clutch a few hundred/thousand miles, it will REALLY smooth out! I think it is smoother than the FE. First couple of days the clutch was pretty grabby. But my brain and foot finally got up to speed and with the clutch breaking in, all I can say that it is a SWEET clutch! Have you tried any 3rd gear launches yet?! You’ll find it does a wonderful job in assisting with obliterating your tires! Oo.

Thanks for the tip Joe.

Oo. ... 3rd gear launches... something I'm gonna have to try really soon!

More bad influence. Pretty soon my wife's gonna put this website in the banned list :-laf
