Thanks for all the hard work you guys did. It did get nasty hot and you guys just kept on. You did a great job, and are great guys.

I also agree that Perfection Clutch did an excellent job. I have to say that it was an excellent day. It was nice to meet all you guys and look forward to the next meet.

Same sentiments here, my first time at one of these events, and you guys did one heck of a job. Can tell you really enjoy your line of work!

Robert Rizzo crunched some numbers and calculations on our Libertys to get an idea of torque, used some of the results from the other vehicles to verify his numbers and equations. Best estimate from his number crunching is mine did 152/280, his did 185/340, assuming it hit peak around 2200 rpm.

Robert was quite pleased with his numbers. His InmotionUSA Stage II tune on his ECM lived up to the advertised numbers and a little more. Considering that Inmotion says their Stage II tune does nothing more than restore the original Bosch and VM Motori European specs that the engine was designed to meet (under license from Bosch no less), that little plant could probably put out quite a bit more.

For my part, you're lucky you didn't have to give me CPR on the spot when you told me I'd hit 150 HP at the rear wheels! Original published specs from DC in their original flyer for the '05 CRD (I still have a copy) was 160 HP @ 3800 rpm and 295 ft-lbs @ 1800 rpm. Best I was expecting to see was 120 to 130 Hp at the rear wheels.

And the kicker is, none of the mods that Bob and I have done were with making more power in mind - we were just trying to get around DC's cost cutting and recalls to make these beasts reliable daily drivers. This was the first diesel for both of us, and as the saying goes, god takes care of babies and fools - we got lucky and backed our way into making more power.

Mods common to both our vehicles - Suncoast Jeep CRD TC, Transgo shift kit, new design transmission oil pump (same basic design as in the 68RE), Aeroturbine 2525 muffler, Kennedy Diesel 4 psi centrifugal lift pump (originally a vacuum fuel system from the factory), return line fuel cooler (our thanks to the Duramax/VW TDI owners and forums for that idea), air filter housing from a V6 gasser Liberty and Amsoil EAA air filter, Provent 200 CrankCase Vent filter (has a closed CCV system), Aux transmission Oil cooler.

Differences - Both of us have replaced the factory fuel filter assembly. Bob went with a single Racor 400 series filter head with a big honking 90 gph 2 micron filter element the size of a coffee can. I went with a Stanadyne FM-100 filter assembly with a 6" long 30 micron element as a primary filter, and have a Cat 1R0750 2 micron filter as a secondary filter.

Bob had had the infamous F31/F37 TC recall with reflash to reduce HP/torque by 5 to 10 percent, prior to installing the Suncoast TC and other transmission mods and the Inmotion tune on his ECM. Mine has the last reflash version of factory programming prior to the F31/F37 recalls. Bob and I both agree that his vehicle was gutless compared to mine after F37 and prior to our mods. From what we've seen, an easy way to tell if your Liberty CRD has the F37 software installed is the shift points - if your final shift/TCC lockup happens at 58 mph, you have an earlier version of software. If it happens at 62 mph, you have the F37 or later software (what Bob and I call the "castrated" version). From Bob's dyno run, apparently the transmission mods and Inmotion tune go a long way toward undoing DC's power reduction.

Still, what I wouldn't give for a 6 speed manual - DC sold these in the States with only an auto transmission.
