I am dealing with a cold start problem (see my other posts). I have a 2003 Ram 2500 HO, auto. I also have an Innova 3130 scan tool. Unfortunatly, I can't seem to get my scan tool to read the rail pressure.

Is there a way to get my scan tool to read the rail pressure? If not, is there a scan tool that will?

From what I gather there isn't a way to do it with a generic OBDII scanner on 03-04, only 05+.

I have used both a Scan Gauge and an Ultra Gauge for rail pressure on my 05, so I know it works thru the OBDII. . but as far as programing or setting up your scan tool I would have no clue. The parameters for the SGII are on their website, maybe they are OBDII parameters and not SGII specific.

My buddy brought over his new scan tool and while we were able to get it to work on his 06, it would never display rail pressure on my 03.

I'll check this afternoon to see if my Actron scan tool reads rail psi on my '03. For my cold start troubleshooting, I used the rail pressure gauge on my TST Powermax R49. It turned on very quickly and I could have it set to rail psi before the wait to start light went out.

look up procedure for injector return flow test and make sure you check the cascade valve... all can be done with out scan tool and will tell lots.

I e-mailed Innova with the question about scanning rail pressure, their reply:

"We do not have any tools that will provide that information. "

I also went on their website and looked at training videos, something about Live Data functions IIRC, mine does not have the LD button.
