scan tools

i have 02 2500. i would like to access my trucks info but, i don't know anything about scan tools. is there a scan tool that will access all of the truck codes and if so who sells it and what is the price of it? i am looking for a scan tool that will do its job and give me great service. any info would be great. thanks

Snap-on carries a scan tool. Not sure how much it runs. I imagine most of the major tool companies have em.

Do a search for OBDII, or scan tools on the site. There are a couple of threads going right now with links to sites for Palm/PC programs that take the downstream readings for under $200.

I have a OTC Monitor Elite, they make several other modles, and you can add any software, for any model made. Also have all the cord sets. If you have the need, they can provide you with printers, break-out boxs, ect. Just limitid by your budget. They are fun, you can sit in your driveway and read bar pressure, coolant temp, boost pressure, tps position, voltage output, ect, ect. The monitor elite starts at arround 1300. 00, list, and options go up from there. You can however find it abit cheaper on the web. What ever you decide, make shure it's a well know company, and they will be there several years down the road, when you might want to up-grade, or obtain new model up-dates.

you can usually find used snap-on scanners for about $1000. 00 or so. The snap-on dealers often have trade-ins. I see in your profile that your truck is a 2002. You might have to pay a bit more for one that updated. New snap-on scanners list for $2200. 00. I just picked one up for $500. 00 cash, updated to 1999, for a friend. Stop in to your local auto repair shop to find the local snap-on dealers name.

PS: I am snap-on biased. I used to be a technical rep for them up until about 1997. I still do scanner classes for them on occasion. I like their stuff...
