I got my Scotty 2 Air system tonite and it is SUPER. I haven't drove very far but just cruising down the freeway I saw at least 100 deg lower EGT :D and the air intake temp was down 8-10 deg Lower than my old Scotty 1  :D

Scott has out done him self again.

Great job Scott!!!!

Good info dr. , I just cleaned up my K+N and have a BHAF in now, but I believe the heat of the coming months will have me using the RE0880 again. Might have to try Scotty 2, Scotty 1 worked well for me.

I take it you must be using both openings????

I am using the first design now and will be replaced with the new one as soon as it gets here. I have a couple of hill that I want to test the old one up against the new one to see how much difference I get. The test will be while I am pulling a 9000lb

5th wheel up 5-6% grades. It should be a good test.

Towed today for the first time with the Scotty 2. My EGTs are down 150 deg pulling the same hill in 5 deg hotter outside air temp.

Cool down before shut down is alot faster.

I will soon be doing alot of testing... . I will test the BHAF(napa), an open RE-0880 K&N, and the Orginal Psychotty(Scotty 1).

Drawson, that's a lot of testing. I'm currently of the opinion that the Scotty II is one of the best setups (best?) available. One thing I'm wondering, does the twin inlets lessen the turbo whine? I find loud turbo's kinda cool on short runs, however, on a full day trip, I like the muffled turbo sounds from the BHAF better.

Of course, EGT control and air filtration are the most important considerations.

Looking forward to your findings.

Ronnie

installed mine last week in my '01.

with the BHAF i could only get as high as level 3 on my pmx3 comp due to touching the 1500 deg mark at wot.

now i can run the powermax in level 5 and just touch 1500 at wot.

both tests were done runnin empty,,not towing.

i cut the hole in the cowl and am using both inlets.

do you really like hearing your turbo sound like it's installed in your glove box?? (i do) then drill the cowl hole.

i have had a few passengers comment on how noisy it was,,oh well,,,WALK THEN!!!

now if i could only feel what levels 6-9 feel like at WOT!!!

:D :D

Ronnie, the beauty of the Scotty 2 is that you can fold back the firewall insulation into place when you don't want to listen to the turbo and still have the side inlet. Think this was Scott's plan when he designed the 2.

It is queiter than my old Scotty 1 and it sound like it is further away. This winter I had taken my Scotty housing off trying to get the intake air hotter for winter driving. With the Scotty 2 system in place it is queiter than with just the open RE-0880 open under the hood.

Not only has Scott added the side enternace but he also added a cone for the flat end and the housing is more open at the cowl end to allow the air to pass by the filter easier.

The Scotty II is great! The sound did change from what I was use to with the Scotty I. . It took some time to get use to. Anytime there is a sound change it throws me off!

I seen between 100-125* difference is the 2 designs when running 70 mph down the freeway. Crossed the grapevine and again there was the 100*-125* difference.

Its another month before I make the pull to the coast with the 5er and its then I really want to see what the numbers are. Even with the #11 plate. . EGT's are down!!!!!!

This is one fine piece of work!!!!

Rick

Does anybody have any numbers comparing the Scotty II with the AFE megacannon setup? I need one or the other, leaning towards the Scotty.

Scotty sure is a tease. Ordered a Scotty II last week and knew there would be a border crossing delay. Filter arrived today but no housing. Ran 31. 5k over to Texas today and will haul the exact same load again tomorrow. Oh well, we have the same run next week so by then I should be able to compare temps against a BHAF. :D

Ok the housing arrived yesterday. Just got it installed tonite and am hauling a load to Corpus Christie in the AM. Will definitely check out how it performs compared to the BHAF.

Had to go out and buy a 4. 5" hole saw, no buddies had one. I would like to offer it to the next guy down the line and keep a list to pass it on kinda like the KDP jigs. Saw cost $58. 93 with tax and the bit assembly. If the next one needing it could send me 50 bucks I can ship it asap. Each person needing it would then be reimbursed by the next user and only be out a couple bucks. If someone gets stuck at the end with it I will "buy" it back so there is no risk.

Just an idea for anyone else installing the Scotty II.

Haven't run wot yet but the filter definitely helped egt. Largest improvement was a lag in egt's rising when accelerating. At 70 with 8k load that catches alot of wind, temp down 50-100.

It must really be workin' that little 35 hard cause that sucker whined liked a baby all the way. ;)
