Did I see this here?

FASS spring R&R

Looking for a Scotty Air II intake. Have been checking the classifieds & ebay off and on for awhile and havent had much luck in finding one.

Does anyone have a lead on any that might be available?

Thanks,
Phil

I ended up finding one on ebay. It had the uni filter with foam sleeve.

Have been using it for about a week. Comparing it to a big AFE PG7 cone style filter that was being used in place of the previous BHAF. I really liked the flow of the big AFE. Was noticeably better than the BHAF, but was a little louder then the BHAF too. It gave good oil analysis results. The only things I didnt like about it was it pulls underhood air (not really sure thats all that bad) and it was out in the open, unprotected (I think the shield between it and the turbo looks a little tacky, kinda "Micky Mouse").

The Scotty 2 is a nice enclosed unit that fits the truck fairly well. It is quieter than the AFE cone. Not sure it flows as well as the AFE though. EGTs are maybe a little better than the BHAF provided, but dont seem to be any better than the AFE, in fact Im still not sure which one wins yet in that dept. I am not going to cut the 4. 5 inch hole in the cowl though, and that may be the only to get the scotty to perform its full magic.

So, the bottom line is, Scotty 2 (without the cowl hole intake) is definitely better that the BHAF. It is close in performance to the big AFE conical filter, but maybe not quite as good. It is quiet this way which is worth a few points. It may end up providing better EGTs while towing heavy through the desert in the summer when underhood temps are up and it is pulling outside air. For me, that is a small percentage of my driving pattern.

Not sure if its staying yet. Couldnt help but pick up one of the Amsoil nanofiber (4510) filters, and will have to see how it compares.

I recommend to keep watching ebay almost daily. I was searching for "scotty air" and thats how I nabbed this one (paid top dollar though).

Thanks for the info Shortshift. Im running a k&n 0880 with a heat shield i made out of aluminum siding. It is very tacky but it was made to be temporary and to see how much it would help my egts. I noticed when changing my oil the other day the fender has started rubbing a hole in the filter. If you decide to sell yours shoot me a pm.

Sounds good Ahire. . The 0880 flows pretty well but has been pretty controversial about its filtering abilities. PRattenbury, I paid 250 for this scotty 2 because they are hard to find and I wanted to get it in my hands. You might be able to find one alot cheaper, but it could take a while to find.
