Couple of questions... . I am considering a Scotty Ram Air II system. Is anyone who is making big power using this system with good results? I can't find an actual flow rate for it. It also comes with a choice of filters: AFE or UNI. Any preferences between those two?

Also, is Scotty Air Systems going out of the diesel business?

Wow... so I wonder if I can still get one. Seems like such a good idea... Dad and I were just talking about trying to rig something to pull air from the cowl and then I stumbled into the Scotty II. Now he's out of the business.

On my 96' I wasn't running big power. Custom grinded plate netted about 600lb tq at the rear wheels. If I slid the plate all the way forward it dyno'd at 700lb tq. At this power level with a 4" exhaust turbo back the Scotty II lowered EGT's when towing by 100deg. The cowl induction could be blocked off for a quieter ride. One time I forgot to remove the cowl block to the Scotty II. Couldn't figure out why EGT's were higher. Once I pulled over and removed the block EGT's receded. After a while I finally just left the cowl induction unblocked all the time. The Scotty II could get a little loud for the wife. Eventually installed the TAG(turbo air guide). I didn't see any performance gains but it did tame the turbo noise from the Scotty II. Try Ebay. I ran the AFE. The other filter wasn't a choice at the time.

I had one on my previous 97 2500 and like a fool I let it go with the truck. No sooner than I took ownership of my currenty 97 I was on the hunt for another Scotty Air II.

I luckily found one either on TDR or DTR classifieds minus filter... . no prob I had a K&N element lying around (yeah I know... . I got a AFE asap).

I hate to hear that Scotty has decided to leave the business, I will never run another air intake on a 2nd Gen other than a Scotty. Guess I need to get a hood lock now!

DRC used to sell Scotty II's. I just tried to find them on his site but couldn't. I was going to get one eventually  guess not

Yeah DRC did carry them and I've read a thread where Greg Boardman was talking about how awesome they are. . but I couldn't find them on the site either and nobody is picking up the phone over there and the answering machine is full.

Picked up a new Scotty Air II from Piers. They only carry the aFe filter though, so I guess I'm going w/ that instead of the UNI rather than have a UNI shipped in from somewhere else. I guess it'll filter ok.

I ran the Scotty 2 w/ AFE filter to 556 HP right before my PDR hx-50 didn't like life anymore. I wish I could use it with my Twins but it won't fit any more. It was good for at least 100 deg drop in EGTs while towing in the summer months.

Im running the Scotty II clear with the UNI on mine. I love it. The noise isnt bad at all, even running the DD Jammer BB.

I never put it in hush mode, never had the desire. The wife doesnt think its loud at all. Even with the sil ring removed from the 35 while towing.

I like the UNI because its easy to clean and oil. Just use hand cleaner and PJ1 oil.

Im sure the AFE is just fine as well. I wouldnt say no to one!!

the clear part is awesome, it is easy to tell when its time to clean.

Which, now that im thinking of it, its definitley time to clean mine!

I've got one with the uni that I am considering saleing. I had to go with a Afe dry cold air intake because on the farm the uni would become caked up with dust/mud.
