Fuel preporator

Parallel turbo's??

Well my Scotty II got here yesterday and so far its still in "hush" mode (no hole yet  )

Right off the bat I noticed a 100* reduction in EGT, quicker shutdown times, and harder to get the EGT's up past 1150 when accelerating at anything less than flat out racing.

All and all great buy and well worth the $$ for someone pushing as much fuel as I am who tows mild amounts of weight occasionally. Having to haul a pickup for a friend tomorrow, and coming home with a 6K lbs goose tonight with the stereo off (CB "amp" on ;) ) I noticed the turbo sings more. Think that'll I'll be able to cover it up nicely with the stereo, but was talking with a friend and can't have both "amps" going at one time! :-laf

I got my Scotty II from Rip Rook @ Source Automotive

Still waiting to drill the hole with a 4. 5" holesaw, but I have a friend who has a 4. 75" holesaw what is everybodies opinion on using it instead?

mark,

use the 4. 5" ,,then you can buy a 4. 5" rubber tail light groment to cover the rough opening and it makes for a nice tight fit.

with out the groment you will get some vibration from the plastic scotty housing against the rough metal hole.

if you think the turbo sings now,,wait till you drill the BIG hole:D

What air filter setup were you using before?

Thanks,

BHAF, it did ok while I was still stock/mild but once the injectors went in I knew it was time for some more air.

I'm going with Scotty's recommendation of "folding" back the insulation instead of cutting it and only probably running dual mod when towing or the one pull I plan on competeing in this summer.

Plus you can hide that huge gaping hole if you sell and want to take the Scotty with you. ;)

Scotty I has worked excellent for me for five years now. Only problem has been ear popping when it sucks the air out of the cab at high boost with the windows rolled up.

That ear popping thing, now that's funny! What the hey, you running twins at 85lbs boost? Maybe you should run 2 Scotty II's.

No twins and boost is limited to 38 psi but the air getting sucked out of the cab is obvious. If you crack the window just right you can hear/feel the air coming in which increases with the amount of boost, don't even need a gauge. Turning the climate control knob to off or recric instantly stops the air drain from the cab. I've thought that making an dam in-between the area where the Scotty sucks it's air and where the vent air comes in might stop this and also lower cab noise. The expanding foam insulation in a can might work well. I just learned to live with it though.

Thank you!

Thanks for purchasing a Scotty Air II.

I am sure you will enjoy it and it does what we claim it to do. Reduce EGT's :D

Bill, if you do the foam cowl enclosure, make sure you have a drain hole for moisture.

:D

No, I've only toyed with the idea. One of my concerns was that blocking off vent intake partially may effect the flow of the vent system.

Nice to see you back Scott.

I'll take a run at this later in the week and give some feedback.

Bill, I figured I better get back on here and wreak a lil havoc, I mean post some valuable info. Now wheres the George Foreman Grill threads? Oo.

It doesn't appear that the area needing the dam is a very significant piece of the cowl intake area.

A drain tube @ the bottom of the dam is easy to design in. Simply laying a tube @ the bottom?

The cab noise is my only hold up on the version II filter @ this time.

Forrest, it's not much of an area but I just don't know how much damming it up would effect the aerodynamics that pressure feed the vent and Scotty system. I'm guessing that the large intake area for the vent is so it can be partially blocked with snow and still function.

BTW I'm running a Geno's clean cab filter on my cowl, poor mans prefilter for the Scotty. Noticed no change with it on in noise, egts or filter minder sucking down. I was concern the cab filter might restrict things too much at first but no problem.
