I received my SCR recall notice yesterday and the dealer installed the new one today along with a new computer flash. First impression is that the old SCR must have been clogged or something. It is like a different truck with a heck of a lot faster acceleration and the transmission is shifting a lot smoother. The flash must have had some new transmission code. Time will tell but the acceleration and shifting is so much better.

So I have the 2107 and the SCR was bad out of the factory, waiting to have new on installed. I also mentioned that the fueling is way to slow. I hope I have the same experience as you

Since the truck was new, if I had to do any sudden acceleration (like getting out of someone's way, or trying to speed up to merge) the truck would seem sluggish. Sometimes it would even sound like a gasser with spark knock. On two occasions I had a message appear on the EVIC to have the throttle service done. Then the message would disappear. The dealer said no codes were set and I have a code reader and never found any codes. I always thought the sluggish throttle response was just the turbo spooling up. Not so, today. Throttle response is quick and acceleration is strong.

Mine did the same thing when i had mine done, very happy with it

Mine seems just a tiny bit louder. It sounds a little more like the older 6.7's. Not as loud as the 5.9's

Only time I noticed any extra noise after the SCR recall was done last week was when the tail pipe fell off/ out... The Clamp that was wielded to the pipe was no good couldn't tighten down enough for the dealer shop Tec pipe slipped out about a day later. New clamp and all is good. Everything else seems to be the same performance wise..... But this truck has been re-flashed about 5 times since I bought it. Ecah time for some CEL lamp issue. Each time the transmission seemed to shift better, smoother with less slip between gears. Maybe they finally got the Program right for our trucks???? I hope so I'm heading down to the Fla Keys next week. It'd be nice to make the trip this time with out any CEL's showing up like on every trip I've made so far..... This truck likes to light that CEL around the Georga state line. Guess I'll find out next week it they really fixed it...

Good time to visit the florida keys. A real challenge to get a reservation, tho. You'll be passing not too far from my residence in Miami. Let me know how it goes. I'll actually be flying back to Illinois (to visit my parents) this weekend, so I won't be around until Monday.

I'm already reserved. I know this time of year can be very busy on the Keys so I book well in advance....

I hope you don't have truck problems and need dealer service. Dealer service depts down here are a crapshoot. Lots of turnover and unhappy employees. Haven't had any dishonest ones though.

This thing gives me any greef I'll be very tempted to give Ford a try....Then again if it dies in the Keys it'd be a great excuse to never leave....

I have completed my S87 recall, the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR).Completed in 1 1/2 hours. This certified Cummin's Ram tech is a pro.Knows Cummins engine's like nobody business period.May 5.9L owners recommend him for miles around. We looked down the inlet to the replaced SCR and found no lining degragation. The DEF dosing nozzle was in excellent shape as well with no deposit's what so ever. This Ram truck has 36,871 miles on it at the time of the recall..All flash updates as previously posted here were done as well. Here is a picture of the outlet from the DPF,as you can see the Ram current PCM program regeneration cycle is doing it's job.The DPF looks well maintain with no clogging issue's at all,nor heavy soot. And this was prior to today's flash updates. This dealership gave me a next day appointment, they are way ahead on this S87 recall. My SCR part assembly was built on 1/04/17 and shipped to my dealership on 2/14,and installed today. So almost all ready for the RV season,so excited to be getting out on the road...

I didn't know any 2015's had the old style SCR.

Newsa yes I was notified by email and a letter from FCA,2 things are done when you comply with S87,removal of amonia sense system completely, and a new SCR with a redesigned liner casing. It seems that to much water was being produced and it was degrading the lining inside the SCR.The PCM update just reflects the delete of the amonia system,I am not sure about better acceration or performance, I do not think that is the case at all as far as throttle response or quicker excelleration..From what Cummins statement is "a slight decrease in fuel mileage".I might be wrong but only Bob,Sag2 would know what the exact software language change is from Cummin's engineering dept.My 2015 Ram 2500 looks like my neighbors 2016 Ram now the entire amonia system is gone now, there just is a wire from the rear SCR to a circuit board then on the other side is another set of wires running into the frame harness assembly..The SCR part number reflected at least as of 2/17 is 68292411AA,my neighbors SCR has this same number etched into the SCR canister as well...My dealership brings you in at 8;30 and out by 11:45.Most of the time with the tech was discussing other issue's like oil recommendation, oil cost factor, ITBC module software update,68RFE field reliabilty reports, rear axle fluid change out cost/time frame. After talking with him to me it looks like I just can't beat a 72.99 oil change with Shell Rotella 15-40W non sysn.Plus tire rotation for 12.99 minus 10 percent maintence repair coupon.Plus a car wash, vacumn. It really is a no brainer,I am a tired old man who loves to sit in the lounge with wifi and stream video or play slots on my phone...Life is Good.

Sir- a couple of questions, if you please.

1. Who is this mythical dealership and creature you refer to as "this certified Cummin's Ram tech is a pro"?

2. Would you please explain "removal of amonia sense system completely"? Your statement might lead one to believe that the DEF system is being removed, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case. Thanks.

No it is a real dealership,it is in Texas.Pro meaning he is really good at what he does, and has taken the time to train himself.Through various outlet's offered by FCA,and his dealership. He is certified on 3.0L VM,and 5.9L,and 6.7L Cummins powertrain systems. He understand logic systems for all computer control diesel's offer by Ram truck division. He is as well emission certified to work on emission related issue's both on 3.0L,VM and 5.9L,6.7L Cummins emission related systems.I was a maintence techician for 30 years and can spot a good tech a mile away. The DEF system has not been removed only the amonia sensor and its module, the PCM update is to change software lanaguage associated with the amonia sensor, and how it relate's to the dosing event and the reading for the dosing event. The only thing left in that area is the support bracket for the module. If I understand it correctly only Bob and Sag could elborate on the PCM flash,it is quite high tech the engine software control,it has become as high tech as aircraft maintence now.

I read it is because the 3500s don't have to meet the same emission standards as the 2500 and the SCR in the 3500 is sufficient.
