I have an 05 that today decided to start screaming, was idling fine and then all of a sudden shot up to 2500rpm and there was a little smoke coming out exhaust...turned the truck off. Started it back up to get home and was ok until I started pulling a hill then the rpms climbed again, got it home turned it off for a few hours. Took it for a short ride and it did it again only this time the hill wasn't as steep and when the rpms climbed the truck started to accelerate. Now it is parked in my driveway. Over the winter I have changed the waste gate cellanoid and the fuel pressure regulator. Recently changed the fuel filter and changed the oil a few days ago. Any ideas?
Read somewhere to try changing FCA but have no idea what that is.
#@$%!

I'd watch the engine on a diagnostic tool. If your tps voltage is causing it, you may need a new tps as mentioned. Fill out your sig so we know what truck you have.

Had it a TPS that would be one thing toc heck. Since it doesn't pretty easy to rule that out.

The APPS maybe the issue but that type of failure is relatively rare on on an 05+ truck. Do the key trick and check for codes, an APPS failure should give some indication, not always but should.

Other potential problem areas injectors, a turbo pushing oil into the intake, or posiibly a sticking FCA. The FCA is the only eletrical connection on the CP-3 on the driver side front of the engine.

I have a 2005 Dodge 3500 4x4...i did just notice my injector pump has a few drips around it, maybe that is it? It doesn't code. I think I have to bring it to the dealership to do diagnostics.

Before doing anyhting else take Quadzilla off. Some of these power adders are known to cause your problem and you have to go back to stock to find an issue.

This is why it is very important to list ALL the mods and particulars on your truck with the first post, need to know these things to understand the problem.

The CP-3 seeping is not the issue, that is pretty normal for those pumps. A few drips is nothing to worry about.

yea took a little bit to figure out how this site works computers aren't my thing, just figured out how to do the signature last night. I did remove the chip and I noticed its shifting differently but I didn't see the smoke. Going to leave it out and see what happens, when I bought the truck it was already in there so I don't know much about it, except that they aren't around anymore. Thanks for the help! Much appreciated!

Yes, it will shift differently due to the different APPS readings from having more power. If your trailing smoke disappeared that is a good sign, good indication the box might have been doing some extracurricular fueling around. :)
