Screens & Intercooler Efficiency

In realtion to window screen on the front of the grille...



Would a slight loss of intercooler efficiency be an ok price to pay in order to keep your a/c condenser, intercooler, and radiator clean? Basically, would you or would you not use a bug screen, based on the testing presented in this thread: Bug Screens.

Sorry buddy, the intercooler takes a backseat to that condenser when its 105 degrees and 75% humidity. I was even considering taking the front clip off

I have not noticed any difference. With it on or off. I have made a window screen to fit nicely in front of everything and I attached it with 2 self tappers. Easy on - easy off .

Think of it this way, the screen may affect flow, but the screen is there to prevent bugs from getting lodged in right? So, really wouldn't haveing a radiator with a screen be the same as one not having one jammed full of bugs? Speaking of that, the ones jammed in, you can't get'em out, or at least not all of them, but if you have a screen, you can have a clean, unrestictive radiator so to speak, right?

We need to develope a way to move the AC Condenser to a different spot..... NOT IN FRONT OF THE INTERCOOLER!

After many years of cleaning bugs out of coolers/radiators I've found that the cooler must be removed and blasted from the back to be cleaned, you are fooling yourself to do it any other way. There just isn't enough room to do it with the cooler installed, especally when the coolers are stacked. Using a screen is a damned if you do, more damned if you don't situation. A month's worth of bug clog in a cooler is more restriction than any easy to clean screen.

Due to a unfortunate personal exchange on this thread I have edited some of the posts out of this thread. It would be appreciated if this thread could be kept on track regarding screens and cooler efficiencies.

I guess there is no real bug problem in the Northeast, i see little to no bugs on my truck, except for in the spring it is a little bad. Either way, i juts clean my radiator and coolers often, no screen
