SCTDR, South East Diesel Jamboree

SCTDR Cummins Truck Rodeo Weekend

We like the smell of burned #2 and some even warm up to Rotella Smella after an oil change, but I bet we all drift to the smell of BBQ Ribs.

Lets meet at Sticky Fingers, 380 Columbiana Dr. Columbia SC, I-26, Harbison exit, May 2nd, 12:30 PM for a pay your own way lunch get together with tire kicking and looking at planning a fall event, don't forget to bring your calendars.

Invite a diesel friend or someone that needs to see what the Cummins and TDR is all about.

Looking forward to the ribs.

Are you able to join us?

I'm starting to get hungry and I know for a fact that there is a BUNCH of ways to make a great BBQ, and this is my first try at Sticky Fingers.

My favorites so far are from a little lunch spot that I think is either torn down or got moved due to I-40 re-routing through it in downtown OKC, I think it was the Rib Stand on Agnew at I-40, slow smoked ribs, sausages and I forget the rest, no sauce, add your own, but truly smoked.

We spent some time in Memphis and Corky's was good stuff, charcoal fire (as I remember it) and dry or wet, both good.

My first night in SC included a SCETV broadcast about the different regional "BBQ dialects" throughout the Carolina's.

OK, nuff rambling on, let's eat.

KLauber is working a crowd from his area, see you on Saturday.

I sent an e-mail with a link to the thread to those that gave us an e-mail at our 2007 Dyno Daze.

Lets also be respectful of the resturant especially the parking lot, no need to do any expaining to Columbia's finest, save it for the track.

missed it

Guys , sorry I missed ya'll Saturday. Snapped the output shaft Friday Night at the dragstrip. Had to get a billet shaft rushed in and i just got back on the road tonight.

John

John,

Sorry you missed lunch, Sticky Fingers had more in the kitchen with your initials on it. Broken driveline parts, that sound like what you said a while back:

"If it breaks, we'll fix it!"

To make matters a bit stranger, I drove down to Mt. Pleasant saturday AM to pick up our '07 and take it to Columbia, and then turn around Sunday AM and drive to just N. of NY NY to work on a high HP Corvette twin plate installation.

Ken might be looking for SCTDR members interested in an upstate fall campout this year. Maybe we could do a community dinner saturday night open to all non camping SCTDR's that come in for the afternoon, what ya think? This was our group idea.

Corvette is "unique" 2005, trans in the rear, high speed torque tube, weird, it uses ugh, sparkplugs.

I'll go ahead and answer for my dad. I think it would be great to have numerous CTD owners in the upstate. If you want to make it a big event there are plenty of activitys to do: I know a few places to go mudding, tubing on the Green River, the Pickens County Speed Way, as well as a few shooting ranges, as well as numerous others!

Will

Lauber & Son,

Re: Upstate camping, I'm all for it, I specialize in tent camping and open fire cooking, we even campout in our backyard, no kidding.

It would be nice to hear from some more SCTDR members about their interest.

JGlascow, I think it's time to call you.

Man I can't believe I forgot about May 2nd. :(

Camping sounds like fun, gives me a reason to get my 5th wheel out of moth balls, How about one of the best campgrounds in the state, Calhoun Falls State Park, right on Lake Russel. Best kept secrect in the South and not too crowded.

Maybe there will be water!

After all this rain, I hope there's some left over for a full pool in the fall!

Ken

I live right down the road from the campground so if I can help, just let me know. Also I anyone likes I could show off my biodiesel processor as well and makeup a batch of fuel. ;)

Kyle

Kyle,

I doubt that I can make a trip up there to check out the campground, how about if you and maybe the Lauber's get together and try to put this event together for a fall event, maybe October?

I like the idea, only things I'm looking for are tent grass space and some provision for cooking over open fires. We make this happen I'll have my 20" Lodge skillet, I have a bunch of cast iron and we can make a mess of pancakes. My commercial coffee boiler pot is open fire also and I forget how much it holds, something like 11 quarts, its huge, works great.

Let us know.

October is will not work for me, I am a teacher and football coach and that is right in the middle of football season. How about late June or July?

I also forgot to mention there is a regular tractor pull site within ten miles of the campground and a drag way 20 miles away.

So hows this sound, Friday night at Wareshoals dragstrip and Saturday at a Truck/Tractor pull with camping at one of the nicest campgrounds in the country? Whos game? lets call it Calhoun Falls Cummins Rodeo;):-laf:D.

If anyone is interested I will get busy and post more info and start setting things up. There is a pull this Saturday and I will make some contacts for upcoming dates.

I like it!

Camping, cooking, drags, pulling and pit racing.

Just postpone the football season, no problem.

Just kidding, I'd say keep going, this should draw some trucks. We need to get to know each other better, this should help.

My Son graduated from Hartsville HS last night in a drizzling nasty evening oputdoor ceremony. Just a bit of a proud Dad, it wasn't college, but he did get his act together.

Ok I will get at it,

There is a pull tomorrow and I will get their next several dates, I think pulls are every third Saturday, and the Drag strip is every Friday night. I have already talked to a local Resturant/gas/diesel and bait shop and they are interested in working with us. Do you wnat to start a new topic and see what kind of responce we can get?

Kyle,

Yes, if you are willing to be point man on setting this up, go ahead and start a new topic. I think the Lauber's might be close enough to help out.

Look at the calendar, remember July 4th weekend is coming soon. I think we need to look at least 6 weeks out. As far as making promises with any local restaurant, turnout is always a big challenge. For me, camping offers time for wood fire cooking rather than a menu.

Thanks
