Stack in hood?

I just placed a $500 Dollar order on the amsoil web site, and found that the SDF80 filter is not available. So I used their search engine to see what filter they are recommending, and found Oil Filter... ... ELF7349 (Donaldson Endurance™ Oil Filters )

Does anyone know anything about this?

I have not heard of these filters, are they any good?

Why would amsoil pull their filter to replace it with another brand?

Just want to make sure there is no problem with the sdf80, because that is what I am currently using.

Thanks for your input!

There is a write up in this months Amsoil news magazine about it.

The donaldson is a better designed filter so they are using that now instead of the sdf-80. There is nothing wrong with the sdf-80,this is supposedly just better.

What JKH said.

I also put a recent order in and selected the new filters. I already used one and have to admit that at least by appearence, they look like they're a superior filter. They still have a small stock of the SDF-80's but will not be carrying them any more.

As already said, the Donaldson is a better filter than the SDF-80. Even though I am an Amsoil dealer, I have been running Fleetguard Stratopore oil filters rather than the SDF-80 because the SDF-80 had synthetic and cellulose media whereas the Stratopore is 100% synthetic media (filters better, moisture doesn't cause it to swell up and come apart). On my next change, I will go with the Donaldson. I feel it was a good move on Amsoil's part. I get to keep a good eye on Amsoil happenings, since Superior, WI is their home headquarters, I am a dealer, and they are also a client of mine for work.

I think you're going to like the Donaldson (tm) filters, and they are very well known in the large (class 6, 7 and 8 ) trucking industry. I have been using theSDF 80 oil filters for several years, and have nothing but good to say for them!

I love the search function, and the TDR!

Since I was infected with my motorcycle addiction last year, I have not been driving Godzilla very much at all, so it has been awhile saince I needed to change oil and buy filters, so I didn't know the SDF80 was no longer being sold, and I was a bit   when I couldn't find it on the Amsoil web page this morning... But now I have a coupld of the Donaldson's on the way :D

Thanks guys.
