No, but I've done it with the Cummins product. It works. With the 2nd Gen lift pumps you could even pump it right out of a gallon jug and clean the injectors. With the third gens, I think the only way is through the filter cannister.

I'm gonna be trying seafoam on my 05 this weekend. Going to pour 4 cans in 1/4 tank fuel than run it till the light goes on. Put another 4 cans in and top it off. If that dont help just gonna have to buy "better injectors" :-laf

Well I give up! What is sea foam? Were is sea foam? Thanks before hand...

Plz let us know how it turns out... If it works as good as I have heard I might give it a try on my truck... If it wasnt for the fact that I get around 20 mpg. . I would take it into the dealer and have the injectors checked/replaced... But I dun wanna risk them doin some update or TSB or such that might kill my mileage. . especially with fuel prices the way they r now... TIA

I bought a can of sea foam a couple of weeks ago and on the back of the can its said you can pour it directly into the fuel filter if you want to really clean the injectors.

When I talked to sea foam they told me that our trucks can run on pure sea foam for a breif time. Told me to drain the fuel filter and fill it up with seafoam and put some in my tank. But this weekend i'll try it out.

Well according to what I have read and seen the carboned up injectors make a loud knocking sound. If the sound lessens or goes away it works. Also since I have a completely straight pipes with the stacks It has been easy for me to notice that my truck always smokes under any sort of acceleration with the edge out of the truck. If this dont work i'm done tryin and just gonna run em till they break  The only thing that worries me is that they will be getting stuck open when shut off and leaking fuel down my cylinders into the oil.

Who said it's okay to run Sea Foam through a common rail fuel system? Is this something endorsed by Bosch or Cummins?

sounds like stuff that GM used to have. it was called Carbon X66Q or something like that.

used to slowly poor it through the carb in a hot engine while idling. then shut it off and let it sit for 30 minutes. then start it up and run it hard.

so is this stuff really good in our diesels?

About 10 years ago I bought a used Ford cube van with the 6. 9 litre diesel. I took it to a buddy's shop, who is an old diesel mechanic and so is his father. He basically serviced the truck, changed all fluids, filters & adjusted valves. I went to pick the Van up, & he said it's done but I forgot one thing... . he spun off the fuel filter, filled it with sea foam, then spun it back on, then he took another bottle and dumped it in the tank. I said to him, what the heck is sea foam? His reply, " It's Bull urine " ... "Don't worry about it, just get this pos outta my shop!"

That old van ran good for a long time, in fact it still does, although I hardly ever use it now. That is my one and only experience with sea foam.

My father swears by it, he drives a semi with a detroit and a '90 first gen. On my last fuel filter change, I put it in my '95, did not notice any ill effects.

Of course Cummins and Bosch are going to want you to use only their products that only goes to reason there. . Oreilly's here carries the sea-foam and the manager said it was great for cleaning injectors and that filling the fuel canister was the best way to clean them. . Now take in mind i have run MMO, diesel kleen, powerservice, and another unnamed brand of diesel injector cleaner which i bought at walmart, it was something new that was put out recently, so if mine are dirty then i guess there going to stay that way. . I know my truck with over 112,300+ miles does not smoke at idle, or acceleration, i have burned additives since day one, just depends on what mood im in as to what i pick up.

Well, did the fuel filter change yesterday. , about 1000 miles later then I typicaly do tho.

New filter, one can of seafoam in the canister, close things up, prime with a turn of the key 3 times. Start, the motor didn't miss a beat. Let her idle for a bit and then idle at 2000-ish for a bit. Things looked good. hopped in drove to buy some $2. 89 diesel, filled the tank up with 2 cans of seafoam and the rest #2. put on 20 miles and parked.

This morning she seems to let the coal roal a little thicker. at WOT she really does a nice dusting of brown at nearly 90mph. Seems to be a bit more then normal. I dunno if this is the sea foam talking, or just cleaner injectors. or me :)

I have 46500-ish miles on and has never been cleaned. Truck is 1. 5 years old

I think I'll do a can in the filter and a can in the tank every 5000 miles with a new filter.
