I HAVE A 03 RAM 4x2 H. O. DIESEL ENGINE... IT HAS 36 K MILES... I WAS WONDERING IF ANY OF YOU HAVE USED THIS PRODUCT TO KEEP YOUR INJECTORS CLEAN??... . IT SAYS IT'S RECOMENDED FOR DIESEL ENGINES AND I HAVE USED IT IN MY OUTBOARD ENGINE WITH NO PROBLEMS. . I DID WANT YOU TDR MEMBERS INPUT BEFORE I GO DO SOMETHING I MIGHT REGRET... YOU MIGHT COMMENT AS TO WHAT YOU GUY'S USE IN YOUR FUEL?... THANKS RADAR DOCTOR. .

I don't think it is recommended for 3rd generation trucks with the common rail engine. It contains both alcohol and acetone, neither of which is supposed to be good for the CR pump. I've used it in other engines and it works great for dissolving carbon deposits and cleaning injectors, but I personally wouldn't use it in a CR engine, except perhaps in the crankcase if I thought I had a sticky ring or something.

I have used it twice in my 03 with no problems at all. I add it to my tank when it is less than half full before refueling. Works good for me.

Seafoam

I use it about twice a year. I'll put a can in the tank when it's below half, and run it low. Seems to smooth it out some. I've also used it in rough running small gas engines, both 2 & 4 stoke... cleans 'em out so they runner better. Bruce

Seafoam

I, also, have run Seafoam in my '03. At the time, I was having an injector issue that Dodge would not help me out with. I was left on my own to fix it. Basically, I had an injector "knock" from idle to about 1400 rpm's.

After reading on the different websites, I came to the conclusion that what I had was carboning of the injector tips. To be honest, I tried a number of different products at about the same time (Seafoam, Primrose 409, Marvel Mystery Oil, etc. ) & a good, long trip pulling the trailer. After the trip, the knock went away. So, I really don't know what product, if any, helped.

The "knock' returns about once a year &, now, I just run the crap out of the truck & it clears up. I just run through the gears to redline, a couple of times, & it seems to clean up the injector tips.

From the reading I've done, & my personal experience, it seems that these new engines need to be run hard to keep the injectors clean. Guys that tow all the time don't seem to have the "knock" as much as guys like me that use the truck for occasional towing & as an everyday grocery-getter.

I've, also, heard the same thing about Seafoam that TAbbott wrote. I'd be concerned about using it on a 'regular' basis. I'm not sure if it would hurt using it every once in awhile. However, Seafoam, in general, has a very good reputation for working well in certain conditions.

As far as a Gasser additive, it works really well. Pre and post season for all of your Gas toys, Generators respond great to it at every tank full. 440 Dodges needed a 'de-carboning' regularly, this has been the only treatment I have found for doing just that. It does contain alcohol so the consistent use in a diesel would not be my choice. Marvel mistery oil does have a 'Deisel' additive that I have used with good results. At this time I am not planning on using any thing in my 6. 7l. The V-10 really liked it, but it is an expensive per gallon additive.

I use it and have been using it for a few years in all year trucks. From a 96 thru 05. Works very well smoothing out the idle after 5-6,000 miles. We use it about 4 times a year and we follow the instructions 1oz per gallon.

Sea Foam & Redline

Thanks For The Responce Guy's, Years Ago I Had A Mbz Diesel Car, It Got To Knocking Pretty Bad And I Took It Into A Dealer. . The Mechanic Told Me He Removed The Fuel Filter And Filled It With Something Called Redline,, He Then Said He Ran The Engine About 1/2 To 2/3 Full Rpm And When I Got That Thing Back There Was No More Missing And Jumping Around. . i Haven't Seen That Product Anywhere And Was Wondering If Any Of You Use It Or Would It Be Recomemded In My 03 Dodge Ram Diesel ... . Does Anyone Know If The Tdr Book We Get Quarterly Covers This Article??? Tks Doc
