Have a New Old Toy that I'm getting ready to play with for this winters project. I was
thinking about the engine rebuild on this tractor, it runs but definitely needs to be rebuilt. One of the gang at the barber shop (No its not floyd's Barber shop) suggested running Seafoam through it to clean out as much of the gunk as possible first. We looked up this link while having coffee & doughnuts. Somewhere near 8:30 into the video shows the Before & After Quite a Difference

Seafoam is definitely not a miracle worker but works great for what it is, I use it on my chainsaw and other small 2 strokes often as well as engines.

My Cummins gets a dose of it every time I do a filter change and anytime I have any symptoms of something dirty in the fuel system. Works great.

It's been pointed out that Seafoam contains 10-20% Isopropyl Alcohol aka Drygas. Works great at sucking any water up out of the bottom of the fuel tank, getting it past the water separator, and delivered straight to the expensive diesel fuel injectors.

I've never heard that. Thanks for pointing that out.

I've been using it for some time though (almost 600k combined between my 2 3rd gens) without issue. I've probably just been lucky.

I was contemplating using it in the tractor engine oil to free up crud in motor before overhaul & change oil a few times to get it out.

I've used Marvel Mystery Oil for that purpose in the past.

Ive thought that I'm going to drop the pan take a look & measurements of crank & rod journals. That way I can see if I could need more new parts & see just how much crap is in the motor.

Kinda like the old trick of pouring ATF in the carb to burn off deposits.

My thought. IF there is junk in the oil passages AFTER the filter, will those deposits loosen and clog up passages or damage anything?

Looks impressive - especially if you have nothing to loose.
