When I put my rear main seal housing back on, should I cut up a gasket to go between the bottom of the seal housing and the back of the oil pan instead of using just some black RTV? I just have this feeling that if I don't put a gasket in there, when I tighen down the oil pan bolts to the bottom of the seal housing, it will put a slight bend in the pan due to the small gap where a gasket was and open up a leak around the bolts to the left and right of the back of the pan.
So will RTV be enough to seal that surface up or should I cut me up a piece of gasket and then RTV it all up?
Just don't want to go through all this work of tearing out the transmission, t-case, clutch, etc. to just turn around and do it again cuz of a oil leak that could have been easily prevented the first time.
TIA,
Joe
