I was wondering if we can search members by location. i. e. state.

No, right now there isn't a way to do that. You can search by state in the travel companion but not in the forums.

It's sort of hard to search very easily in the travel companion also since folks weren't standard when reporting their state name. For example for Montana there's names under Montana, MT and Mont. , all are separate searches.

Bill, I just searched through the database and there aren't any entries for Montana or Mont. The field for state is only 2 characters long so there would be no way to enter that. Unless you specifically tell the search to match case, searching on mt in the state field will bring up mt, MT, and Mt. You may be thinking of the old travel companion versus the new one. I upgraded the travel companion software 3-4 months ago.
