Search function doesn't search

I have had a search problem for some time. I have read the FAQ onsearch several times. Something is not right.



Tonight I want to find a thread that has "per 10 feet" in it. According to the search instructions I would put in +per +10 +feet and get threads that had all 3 items in them. Not necessarily in tht order, but had per and also 10 and also feet. Nope. I get a random sample of threads that some of the threads do not have any of the requested search elements in them.



Ideas?

First I believe that numbers do not work at all. The main thing your getting though is that if you have it on the default of show results as threads it will search for your search terms in the entire thread so if the word per is in say the very first post and the word feet is in the last post it will return that thread as a result. Change it to show results as posts and it will only show you the individual posts that have all of those terms in it and you can then click on that post to take you to the entire thread.



If your looking for those specific terms in the exact order that you have them then you need to put quotes around them. For example:



searching on "per 10 feet" would return a post that said:



I did a search on per 10 feet



but it wouldn't return a post that said



per your instructions I searched on 10 feet



I just did your search and on every post that I looked at they had all of those terms in them.
