I started a rebuild of the search index database on 03/04 at 3:00 am. This was done as a preemptive measure because we were starting to get errors from the sql server as posts were being submitted and I wanted to repair it to make sure that when you are searching for information you're getting everything and before it started causing performance problems. This is a VERY intensive process because the server has to go through every single one of the 518,000+ posts and pull out every word 3 characters or longer and create an entry in the database for it. RIght now it has about 5,000 threads (out of 58,000) left to do. Before this server, this process would necessitate taking the server off line in order to run the process and even then it would crash the server. I've been able to run it while leaving the website up - albeit with some performance problems. The process has halted a couple of times for a couple of hours each time because my internet connection at the house went down - and the rebuild process is run remotely. Assuming my connection doesn't go down again it should be done some time tonight or tomorrow. Sorry for any inconvenience.
