Site moving slow...maybe just me?

I downed the website at 2:45 am for 25 minutes to do a repair on the database tables. We started getting some errors in the search database this week along with a couple of errors in the post database. Because of that I'm also rebuilding the search index tonight (started at 3:10 am). This will most likely cause some slow performance while it is taking place. Also, searches will not work well until it is done. I'm doing this preemptively before we start having problems with it. Sorry for any inconvenience.

It's 4:30 and it's less than 10% of the way through rebuilding the search. So far the search rebuild is hardly putting a load on the server at all (about 1. 2 - with 2. 0 being fully loaded) so it's not causing any performance delays. I'll check on it a few times during the night and in the morning to make sure it hasn't crashed out (which I doubt it will).

It's 12:15 and it's about 50% of the way through the rebuild. With 282 users online we're seeing a load of 1. 3-1. 4. These servers are awesome! As some of you may remember when doing search index rebuilds before these servers (which had to be done quite often because of the server problems) it often brought the site to it's knees. I'm not seeing any performance difference at all in my usage here! At this rate it won't be done until some time tonight - I'll keep checking on it periodically to make sure everything continues to go ok.

1:50 am and it's still running. It's on thread #46,100 out of ~58,000 threads. It should finish some time tomorrow morning.

By the pot Gary :D ! My internet connection went down at 8:20 am this morning and stopped the reindex at that time (it's driven from my end) and I started it back up again at noon. It's on thread #56,000 right now so it should be done in about 3-4 hours which is before our peak usage period tonight.

-Steve

My mistake - the thread #'s do not coincide with the record number. Even though there are 58,000 threads the thread numbers actually go into the 68,000 range (probably due to when the old posts were archived, deleted, and then brought back). Right now it's at thread #63,000 so it has about 5,000 left to go through. Assuming my internet connection doesn't go down tonight it should be done some time during the night or at the latest tomorrow during the day. Sorry for any inconvenience.
