Well to start off with im starting to do my research for a compound set up for my 02.

Right now I am running a SPS 62 but when towing its hard to keep her cool. I'm running Mach 4's, Drag Comp, Auto trans, 3. 54 gears, 35" tires, Snow stage II water meth, the truck dynoed at 566 hp and 1120 tq.

I have a 20' enclosed thats around 8,000 pounds that I tow from time to time, I live in Alaska so we have some pretty good hills to pull. If I can keep the RPM's up at 2,200 or more then I can keep the EGTs under control but I have to keep one eye on the gauge.

What I would like is to be able to cruse in OD at 65 around 1600 RPM's and be able to keep the EGT's down while towing.

I do take it to the track and play some. I hope to break in to the 12's this year.

What I was looking for in turbos was ceramic ball bearings, and water cooled, for the long life and from what I have heard the ball bearings help the spool up. I would like a little room to grow but I don't think I will go much over 600 hp if I do add anymore to it. I would also like to keep the water to oil heat exchanger for the trans.

Is there any one out there that offers all that? What other kind of things do I need to look into for a good compound setup or ways to keep the EGT's down?

Thanks for the help!

I'm impressed that you cankeep it that cool!

I had a SPS-62 and towing was impossible unless I kept it at 2700 or higher.

I called Source and bought thier kit to go with a HX35/12 that I had.

I love it. On a real heavy tow--15,000lbs--- it is a little tough at 60 in OD.

But this set-up runs cool!!!

See my signature.

Ill give PowerByPoole a call and see what they say. I went through them when I got my mach 4's when I was living in Va. They had great customer service.

Has any one ever ran a variable vane turbo in a compound setup?
