A couple weeks ago the seatbelt buzzer and idiot light came on and would not go off with the seat belt plugged in. Just about drove me nuts. So I removed the fuse that is on the circuit. This of course kills my overhead temp and compass, and who knows what else.

Have been looking at the archives, and this one caught my eye.

Poked around some more and found this page, which tells you how to replace the seatbelt buzzer module:

TSB 08-47-96

So, now I know how to replace the buzzer module, but I'm not convinced that this is the issue. I'm thinking there is a switch inside of the seat belt itself that is toasted. Anyone else have this experience and found the problem? Anyone ever taken apart the seat belt itself and found the switch?

Just unplug the buzzer, unless you really like annoying noises. Mine has been in the glovebox for years.

This is the direction I'm leaning in. Taking off Friday for my birthday and I think I'll change the oil and unplug the buzzer in celebration.

When I bought our '97, I unplugged the buzzer before the new truck left the dealer's lot. It "rode" in the glove box 97K miles until the day I traded it in... an annoying noise I didn't need.
