2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Seat belt light

My seat belt light stays on even when conected,any ideas?

According to my '98 manual, the light helps monitor several functions. Failure to fasten the buckle would cause a chime but wouldn't keep the lamp on. If you e-mail me at -- email address removed --, I'll send you a copy of the section giving some diagnostic directions.
