I have a 98 12 valve when after about 45 minutes of driving the seat belt light comes on, and my seat belts lock up. I have to open the door and then it works fine after that. Any ideas?

First, Welcome to the TDR!

I`m not too familiar with the 98+ interior, but I do know there is a seat belt switch in the drivers latch. Check at the base of the latch where it bolts to the floor, and disconnect it. You could also jump the pins on the floor side so it wont bug ya about the seat belt anymore.

If that isnt it, you may have a dirty or bad connection somewhere... Try checking the connections at the PCM on the firewall behind the airbox, and check your battery terminals for any corrosion. Hopefully it isnt a computer error or failure. .

good luck

There was a TSB that came out I think a few years after the '98 model was introduced that said the computer that controls the seat belts was faulty. One symptom is, while going through a hard curve, the lock-up mechanism for the belt can be heard clicking. Mine does it. Once out of the curve, all is well. Mine was out of warranty when I bought it (used) so I chose not to spend the big bucks on a new computer. DC wouldn't cover the cost. I hope the belt works as designed when/if it's really needed!

I'm not sure your problem is related, but it could be. Might check the TSBs on the "dodgeram.org" site.

Welcome to the TDR,
