hi guys,
posted this yesterday and was worried that maybe it was buried too deep in the thread that it was missed so sorry about starting a new thread on something that has been covered before however mine has a small twist, that being said thanks in advance.
my belts have locked up, I found that if I un-hook the batteries the belts will work for a day or two then lock up again, also took out the timer control module and cleaned the connections as Crowhurst advised, no luck. I've called the dealers and was told that there are no timer modules in the states and none being manufactured leaving at least the 83 people on the waiting list, waiting. So my question is, has anyone been able to figure out how to rebuild/repair these parts? would like to get this back on the road as it is my tow rig and racing season is starting soon. I should add that my truck is a 98.5 2500 4x4 with a Cummins diesel engine. Thanks in advance to all.

What year truck? It was within the last two years that I was able to buy one from my local dealer for my 98 12v.

I see you've got a Seattle zip code. I'll wander over there at lunch on Monday and see if they still have it kicking around.

Sounds like the seatbelt control module is not receiving G-sensor inputs for 10 key-on cycles of at least 30 minutes each. This should trigger a fault code.

Check fuses 12 and 16 in the PDC. Verify the seatbelt control module is correctly connected to the wiring harness. Verify the retractor solenoids are connected to the SBCM.

You want to be *real* careful driving it after you've reset it (the battery trick); the shoulder harnesses probably won't latch during a very rapid change in velocity. Mine have always latched for four seconds given a momentary hard braking. Or you could drive sideways on a 45° slope. :)

You can test the system:
  • Sit in driver's seat with doors closed.
  • Push in cigar lighter.
  • Turn the key on-off 3 times, then on--within 5 seconds. This starts a five minute test cycle.
  • The seatbelt light should turn on.
  • Open the driver's door; the seatbelts should be unlatched.
  • Close the driver's door; the seatbelts should latch.
  • Test using the passenger door.
  • Turn key off and back on. The seatbelt and airbag lights should go out after a few seconds.

No joy at Karmart. They had already sent back the one I ordered. Sorry man, looks like you'll need to scour junkyards if you need to find one.

Or find a geek who can build you a iphone or android app that'll detect the expected g-forces, control the seatbelt solenoids, and send the right messaging to the timer module. Then install an old iphone/android under the middle seat.

And old phone should be gettable for a few dollars.
