How much noise do you want your diesel truck to make?

6.0 or Duramax in a DODGE Poll

So tell me do you wear your seatbelt, I will admit that in town 30mph and less I dont but on the highway I do.

Cheers, Kevin

been wearing a seatbelt since 1966. first car we had with seatbelts was a ford country squire wagon. have had multiple times i was glad it was on.

Seen enough people saved by them and enough people killed by not using them. I ALWAYS wear mine, just like wearing a helmet when I am on my 4 wheeler or bike

In Cal. they can pull you over for no seatbelt. They don't have to have any other reason. When they first passed the seatbelt law, the Legislature swore up and down that they would NOT authorize cops to pull people over for just not wearing a seatbelt, but they changed it once people go used to the law.

THIS is the main reason I am against ANY form of gun control legislation. Give Congress an Inch and they will take 17 Miles and a thousand yards of Right of Way on each side.

I do wear one most of the time, it helps if you are driving hard and fast, and need the control. (Don't ask me how I know this:rolleyes: )

Anybody thats been upside down or hit anything very fast will tell you all about how wonderful belts are. I am one of them and kick myself when I forget to latch em now and then.

The only place I don't wear my seat belt is in my back yard. I don't think anyone running a red light will get me there.

I was only going 5 mph when I had my first accident. The other car was doing 45. Totaled both cars. I would have been hurt pretty bad if I didn't have my seatbelt on.

I wear mine driving to the corner store. You could be the best driver in the world, it's the other guy that'll get ya.

Always. My parents drilled it into me from an early age--now it's second nature. Sit down, fasten belt, turn key. I don't even think about it anymore. Also, I find that in any abrupt manuver, lack of a seatbelt severly hampers your ability to accurately control the vehicle.

Aside from that, I spent four years with the rescue squad back when I was going to UT. I've seen more fatal MVAs (motor vehicle accidents) in a single day than many people will (hopefully) see in their entire life. Yeah, I've seen a couple drunks ejected, land in a field, and walk away with superficial injuries. I even saw a couple that arguably would have been killed had they been wearing their seatbelts (very rare, that).

But the number of people I've seen crushed, decapitated, or smashed into trees because they were unrestrained and ejected... I think I lost count after about the first dozen.

It ain't pretty, guys.

I put mine on for safety cause it has come in handy a couple times, but also to stop that annoying buzz from the seatbelt buzzer while you wait to start. That thing drives me nuts. .

My seatbelt is on before I back out of the driveway. So is the seatbelt of anyone riding with me. I was in an accident that totaled a rental car - neither the passenger nor I were wearing seatbelts. I went into the A-pillar head first. The passenger wasn't as lucky - he went through the windshield.

Experience is a hard, but effective, teacher. :(

Close to 40 years ago I ran into a farm tractor hauling a manure spreader on a road covered with hard packed snow. I bent the top half of the steering wheel at a 45 degree angle with my chin. Due to the fact that I was wearing a seat belt I feel it saved my life. I am convinced that I would have either gone through the windshield or crushed my chest.

Do I wear a seat belt - absolutely!!!!!

Seat belts are a good idea, although I have had two friends over the years get killed in their vehicles while wearing seat belts. Just that type of crash I guess.

But at the same time, about 2 months ago my daughter was in a wreck ( rear ended by a drunk ) and was wearing her seat belt..... probably saved her life.

Funny, the first thing I thought about was if she was/was not wearing her belt... ... ... . sooo... ... ... . I will try and wear mine now all the time and not just on the highway.

They say most wrecks occur under 15 miles an hour, but that seems fast enough to hurt you too.

after 9 months of being off work do to a wreck... the tree that I hit was more than enough to convince me that wearing a belt was a great idea. .

I wore my belt about 25 % of the time before the wreck and about 98% of the time now... . I was very lucky I was wearing it when I hit the tree I some times don't wear it on short trips to the store ect... my Bad !!

hard lesson leaned

I was in a wreck 3-15-98(my fault)and did not have my seat belt on. Hit a tree and totaled the 95 Dodge I had out and just about put an end to me:eek: Broke the steering wheel, hit the dash, hit the windshield(broke tooth cut my beautiful face;) up and numerous other things. Wound up with bleeding on the brain and in a comma for a while. Had to have major surgery 6 mos after wreck. Out of work 11mos and some days. We use to never wear them around the house being in the country and on gravel roads but all that has changed now. My son was in a wreck about a year before me,going to work one morning, been working daylight to past dark, tired and dosed off. Seen that he was heading for the ditch on the left side, over corrected and slid across the highway to the left flipped and hit a tree and totaled his 95 chevy at that time out drives a 99 Dodge now. And he started his truck up and drove it about 15 miles home on a flat tire. Again we wear them now.

i wear my seatbelt 99% of the time. usually, the only time i don't wear one is if i am moving a vehicle out of the driveway & parking it on the road to access another vehicle [i live in a subdivision on a side street] or if i am backing up the cube van to a loading dock at my 2nd job [that's if i got out before backing up. if i don't unlatch my belt, i'll back up with it on, but if it comes off before i back up, it'll stay off]

Another thought

No they are not as confining as a wheelchair. But you could wind up in a wheelchair if you don't wear one. :( Like I said another lesson I learned the hard way.

I have to wear my seatbelt. If I don't, I don't feel right. I can also attest to the fact that it has saved my life once. It's amazing how small a window a human body can fit through when subjected to the forces in a snap roll of a diesel pickup. Everything else in my truck went out my side window except me and my passengers. I managed to break the window out with my head though. Ouch...

You can see the truck in my reader's rigs. It doesn't look that bad, but it spent most of it's time in mid-air. The insurance company totaled it and I got a new one. It was only two weeks old.

Wheelchairs are very confining:(

My youngest brother (17 at the time) fell asleep and wrecked a car at about 75mph, rolled many times but not ejected, no seat belt. Quadriplegic now C5-C6 complete, no function from the armpits down, no hands, 20% or less use of arms, electric wheelchair. Very hard on those around you also. :(
