Looking for a replacement car

01 Jeep axle removal

on my kia, my daughters suburban, other daughters chrys van, my son in laws bmw and my brother in laws dodge caravan we have the same problem. the seat belt locks on the passenger side only. you put it on and it locks and will not let you lean forward. . is there a fix for this? is it because the drivers side gets used more? most of the time when you put it back in all the way it frees it up but not always. thanks robert

There are basically two possible reasons for it to lock up.

1. It may lock up on a bumpy surface. Even the driver's belt will do this in mine. The only fix I've found is to wait until it isn't bumpy, then lean back to give it some slack.

2. If you pull the belt all the way out until it stops, that puts it in "car seat" mode. This allows you to cinch the belt down tight when it's holding a car seat in place. The rear seat belts work that way too.
