Had the Cable recliner stud shear off on the Rear Passenger seat of my 2012 Mega cab. After replaceing two plastic levers, with the third one the stud on the recliner cable sheared off. Took about 30 minutes to replace after I ordered the correct one. Turns out the passenger side of the truck is called the "Lt" (Left) side and the Drivers side is the "Right" side. Parts diagrams just refer to Lt and Rt.
The Passenger side is Mopar number 68066918AA currently (was 68066925AA)
The Drivers side is Mopar number 68066996AA.
These cables are the part the long handle adjust or that is the upper handle alongside the seat clips onto. The handles themselves are around $25.00 each at the dealer and break on about a yearly basis so far in my case.
On the removal/install I found I needed a 7mm and 8mm socket, large and small long flat bladed screw drivers and a needle nose pliers, a mirror and a flashlight.
The dealer wanted about $250 and said you have to remove the seats to replace the part. They were not able to find the right part even after they called up the factory help line as the diagrams Dodge provides for this area is rather cryptic. I wound up ordering one each of the parts for the driver's side until I received the right part. Then once I figured out the right part, but discovered I ordered the wrong side, I just ordered the right (Lt Passenger's side) one.
The procedure I used was to first remove the seat cover from the side I needed to work on. Just gently pull it up and the in towards the center of the truck and then down. It will come off of the frame and seat. You do not have to take the cover off of the seat, just losen it and pull it out of the way. Then remove the two 7mm bolts that hold the recliner cable assembly to the seat.
Next, remove the reach underneath the seat and remove two 7mm bolts (silver in color on my rig) that holds the larger lower black plastic seat lever housing in place. Then remove the black 8mm bolt located in the back of the plastic housing in a recessed hole.
Then, above the plastic housing along the seat back on the side of the seat I removed the 7mm black screw that holds the soft plastic hinge cover to the seat back. I did this so I could gently move the plastic lever housing up and out the the way.
With the housing out of the way, I undid the cable end by turning the black plastic able end 90* and then gently pulling it out of its slot. Then I used a long bladed screwdriver to pop out the cable retainer. I threaded the new cable along the route of the old one and. Removed the old one, being careful to make sure the cable and protector sheath of the new one followed that of the old one.
Finally I re-assembled everything back the way it was.
I will try to load pictures I took of the install.
