Hello, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of that obnoxious seatbelt chime, it's constantly dinging when I'm hooking up trailers and whatnot. Any help appreciated, thanks!
One member suggested that if you don't wear your seatbelt that often, to plug the center seat male end into the driver side and that would stop the chime.
Not really an option if you wear your seatbelt often though.
I haven't looked yet, but there must be a couple of wires where the buckle is that could be tied together or cut depending on the logic of the system. That would eliminate the seat belt icon on the instrument cluster when you don't wear it.
Now that I think of it, the chime goes off when the door is open. There is no chime for the seatbelt when the door is closed.
This thread discusses it, but I don't think any solution was reached.
When I want to listen to the radio with the door open, I just trip the little black plastic latch in the door latch and that fools the system into thinking the door is closed. Be careful not to close the door with the latch tripped though.
My dealer warned me about the seat belt dinger and told me how to disable it. I also read the instructions in the owners manual on how to disable the d*mn dinger after it started to drive me dingy. I tried at least a couple of dozen times to diarm the little nasty.
When I went back to the dealer to pick up the rocker panel covers I asked if they had a de-dingifier expert. The said "certainly" and some gal headed out and nuetered that sucker in a jiffy.
I was so deeply humiliated that I mumbled a "much obliged" and snuck off all hangdog like to assuage my ego by berating my border collies. Pretty soon they will be letting women and small children drive these CTDs
it is written in the owners manual... . i tried it myself a couple of times (some combination of inserting the seatbelt like 5 million times into the thigy in 10 seconds with the key on then off)..... didnt work for me so i had a tech do it... worked for him first try... .
