Check the connector under the center console for loose wires. It is one that can be damaged by sliding stuff under there.
If that looks good, with the key on and belt buckled, wiggle the plastic covered pair of wires where they go into the rubber sheath that covers the belt fabric. See if the light flashes. If it does the you can either buy a new head assembly or repair the one you have.
It is easy to inspect if the seat is all the way forward and seat back is forward too.
I know this sounds crazy but my 99 every now and then gives me the red seat belt light.
I checked all the wires and connections and every thing seemed fine so i am driving down the road and some yahoo pules out in front me I brake very hard to avoid him not skidding just a very hard brake and poof the light goes out. so next time the light comes on a month or so later I brake hard and ta da out goes the light who figure the light comes on 2 or 3 times a year and i solve it the same way really you can get up off the floor and stop laughing now. just another dodge CTD quirk. I still would not trade it for anything else
Mine kept doing that, coming on while driving I finally upluged the wire under the seat. Everthing works fine, it is only to remind you to buckle up. Had something to do with the belt hook up,bad contact I tried cleaning and it did no good.
