Ok I have a 99 quadcab and recently removed the center console to place an amp under it for a new speaker system.

Long story short , there is a 2" x 2" (approx) black sensor under there that I had to unplug move and put back when done. Since then my seat belt light will not light up on my dash when the belt is not buckeled like normal. and when you slam on the brakes hard the belt will not lock. I have since gone back in there to make sure my wiring harness is plugged in all the way, and all is fine. I can hear something rattelling around inside this box. . ?

Ok, did i screw this thing up ?? does it need to be replaced and if so , what the hell is it called ... . thanks , Tom

Tom,

That thing is called the seatbelt control timer. It releases the seatbelt when you open the door or turn the ignition switch on and then starts a 30 minute timer if the ignition switch is turned off and doors are closed. This will keep the batteries from draining. The noise that is rolling around is a g sensor and will cause the seatbelts to lock when move at extreme angles and quick stops.

By the way, my 99 seatbelt light does not light when you unbuckle. It only lights on start up. If I have not buckled the chime will ding until I do. Checking the dodge manual, it is working as it should.

If you loose power or that box is not position correctly, the seatbelts will lock, thereby I believe you are okay and the system is working correctly.
