Well the odometer rolled over 134k and like clockwork "Perform Service" chimed. Started disassembly today, things look about right in terms of soot buildup. Something I don't understand though is the amount of soot that is in the butterfly below (upstream) the EGR valve? Where would backpressure greater than boosted come from to basically force it up stream towards the intercooler? New question, new topic: As I do much of this work myself (meaning alone) I have a hypothetical; As I have stated before I'm plagued by a chirp or high pitched whistle either when powering up towing a 5er, or when the EB engages during decel. Now that I have the EGR cooler off, I see a little soot between #5 and #6 ports. Wondering if that is where the whistle comes from when the exhaust manifold sees a certain level of pressure whether from the exhaust side or the EB back pressure? If so, is it possible to support the turbo from under the down pipe with a jack and remove the exhaust manifold without removing the turbo to re-gasket, hopefully getting rid of the whistle?? Any words of wisdom and or experience out there?:-laf
