I need to replace the injector pump and fuel pump on my 99 2500 extended cab. Someone told me to install a mechanical injector pump instead of an electronic injector pump. Is this possible? If so, is there a recommended pump? Also, what problems might be encountered with the installation?

you can BUT you have to change the front timing cover, get custom injector tubes and a bunch of other stuff. it would be cheaper and more driveable to keep the electronic pump.

Anything is possible if you throw enough money at it. I believe a tdr member who goes by the handle Jetpilot did a mechanical pump conversion. It was a high performance pulling truck if I remeber right. Do a search on some of the forums. You will find a few members who have done this.

For day in, day out driveability, the VP wins hands down.

Now, afetr saying that, you want a mechanical fuel injection pump, I would sell your truck and buy a 12Valve.

very few conversions I have been around run half as good as they did before. Again, just my opinion.
