Done the searches on the the replacements and found the threads on geting the part from Cummins for cheaper, but I was wondering if anyone has come up with an alternative to the factory unit?

I have lost both pumps at about 35k. The first one was covered under warrenty, but they would not give an additional 3/36 on the new pump.

I have also sent out a request for some info on the PAC unit, but I am not sure I want to loose my integrated control.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Aaron

I'm interested in this topic, too. I run around town, empty, with the jake just so I can stay off the service brakes. Hope this isn't a design flaw.

I think it is a case of someone designing a 30-40k product on a 350k motor. When the first one went, both Cummins and Dodge were very interested. They said they had only had a few failures and after make a few phone calls I got a new one sent out. Now I think they know they have a problem because I am seeing a lot more failures on this board and is seems Dodge doesn't want to talk to me any more.

BTW, it does't mater if the brake is engaged or not, the pump is always generating vacuum if the motor is running. I run my brake at all times and on my early '03 it doesn't turn off at idle, though I wish it did. Both Cummins and Dodge said this was not a problem.
