I have a problem on my 2002 3500 Ram with my security alarm that sounds the horn 3 times when I use the remote to unlock the door. I have had it do this in remote location where there doesn't seem there are any radio transmissions and I do not have a cell phone or other accessories plugged in to be charged. It has continued to do this for a few years, but is beginning to do this about 50% of the times that I unlock the door. I have tried to turn off the alarm by removing the security relay, but it doesn't stop the horn from beeping three times. It doesn't cause any problems with starting the engine because it put the alarm in lockout mode. I removed the horn relay which stops the horn from beeping, but I don't like driving without a horn. I have viewed many of the posts in the forum but couldn't find an answer to the problem.

Same problem for me. Seems to be happening more frequently recently. Def a PIA. Also curious as to what is the "problem".

When the horn beeps three times, the security system "thinks" the vehicle has been tampered with after the security system was set (locking the doors with the remote). You may want to verify also that the red light is flashing on the dash for 30 second after you unlock and get the three horn chirps. If so, it does think it has been tampered with.

Last week, I changed to oil in my daughter's Jeep. When I went to start it, it would only run for two seconds and then shut off. After the third time, the starter circuit was disabled by the computer. It would not let me use another known good RKE key nor reprogram the system.

I disconnected the batteries for about ten minutes and the problem was corrected and all keys worked correctly.

I told you this because you might want to try it. Also, you may have a door switch going bad that is telling the computer that the door has been opened after setting the security system. Check and make sure the swithches are working freely. One may be intermittent and have to be replaced. Really the only way to check for that is with an ohm metter to see that the switch is not failing when "jiggled".

I have an 02 that does the same thing about every 3-4 times I unlock the door. I do not mind it but ay 4:30am each morning, the neighbors may.

I think that I may have found the cause for the 3 beeps. I have a problem with the drivers side when I open the door with the keys it doesn't turn off the alarm and when I open the door with the keys sometimes the alarm will go off. When I open the passenger side door with the keys it turns the alarm off and I don't get three beeps. You might try to open the doors with your keys several times and see if the interior lights come on which turns the alarm off. The switch in the door turns off the alarm when you turn the key from one door and when you unlock the doors with the remote it turns the alarm off but it beeps three times to let you know there is something wrong with the alarm system because it is only getting a signal from one door.

I fixed the alarm system that caused the horn to beep three times when I unlocked the doors. I knew that there was problem with switch on the backside of the drivers door key because if I opened the drivers door with a key and it didn't turn the interior lights on the alarm would go off when I opened the door.

I checked the key switch with a ohm meter and it tested OK. I unplugged the the connector about a foot away from the key switch to test the switch. When I pushed the together the horn stopped beeping. The problem was caused a bad connection in the key switch plug.

Reacting like a bad key,but there is a flash for the wcm in many of the late models

Bob4X4, I thought the key had died but not of the keys would work until I did the "hard reset". Since then, no problems with the Jeep.
