Is there a cut off switch available for our CTD's like they have for the gassers. I live in a bad neighborhood and want to keep my truck. Within 20 minutes it can be in Mexico and I would be shopping for a replacement truck!
I found in here a wile back a thread on installing a kill switch, which I did. In the under dash wiring harness there is a plug that goes to the clutch. This circut will not allow the starter to crank untill the clutch pedal is pressed all the way down.
If you have a stick shift just interrupt that wire with a toggle switch and mount the switch in a well hidden spot.
If you have an auto the plug is still there, but it has a jumper installed to bypass it. You can put a swich in line with the jumper. This will only disable the starter if you try to start it with a key or broken ingnition lock cylinder etc. . from under the dash.
The starter can still be operated from under the hood. Your average thief wont spend a heck of a lot of time trouble shooting your truck to try to steal it.
Around here it seams that quite a few vehicles are stolen by tow truck. Take it now and get it running later. Hope this helps
I have the Jacobs Stop Action Deluxe in my truck. This will allow the thief to start your truck and back out of the parking spot, then the engine will die and can't be restarted, (unless you hit the hidden reset button within 20 seconds). Once the truck is moved it is considered stolen, for insurance purposes, as opposed to just being vandalized while parked. The deluxe Stop Action also has an anti-carjacking feature. When a carjacker orders you out of your truck, just get out, setting the carjacking mode while you exit. This will allow him to get a safe distance away from you before the truck dies, (1 1/2 - 2 miles). Go to the nearest phone and call the police and tell them your truck was stolen and will be within a 2 mile radius of where you are. This is my second truck with this device. I have been using the Stop Action for a total of 9 years now without a problem. Works every time.
Those things are only $40! Much less than a $200 alarm. Evidently it doesn't rely on an ignition system to work its mojo. How do they work, and are they a relatively easy install on a dodge?
Yes, it is very easy. Everything is done from inside the cab, nothing under the hood. Don't want to get into too much detail here, never know who is lurking.
