I recently purchased a 2003 Quad Cab CTD. It came loaded except it came without the Security Group. Is this something that could be installed by dealer or would it be just as easy to have an alarm system installed by an outside vendor?

Its easy to install the factory setup. It simply plugs into the back of your instrument cluster (near your keyless entry) but I think your dealer would have to program your chassis computer so it knows it's there. They usually charge about $30 for the programing.

Had dealer install EVS II with ITS sensor and Skim keys for $400. Had dealer install it because its covered for 3 years parts and labor;)

Thank you both for the replies. Both dealers I checked first said that you couldn't add the necessary equipment. After I mentioned it was discussed in TDR they both thought it could be done. THX:)

Yea, just mention TDR to a dealer and they "cringe" 'cause they know you are ahead of 'em as an "informed" buyer!

The 2003 Dodge accessories catalog (page 84) lists both the systems and the harness to do it. Looks like about $240 for parts and around 2 1/2 hours or so for labor. Sounds like $400 - $450 installed.

I had keyless entry and security deal installed. Unauthorized entry honks horn/flashes lights. If you have it done, make sure the sensetivity level is adjusted before you take it home or the wind will trip the alarm. Once properly adjusted, it does great. '03 3500 DRW HO-6
