Lost a security key for my truck. The dealer said I had to bring in the registration,my drivers license and my truck so they can program a new one. I have a BDDL. Do I need to re-program back to stock so they can do this?Oh,by the way,it's $175. 00 to replace the key. Thanks in advance.

They shouldn't have to go under the hood... ... ... ... but if they do and you have your toys on and your dealer is an *****, you could void your warranty (assuming that is what you mean by programming back to stock).

This is a good reminder to everyone with the Sentry key system to buy an extra Sentry key from your local locksmith for around $25 and then program it yourself. The procedure is in the owners manual, but you need two programmed Sentry keys present to program the new one. Keep the new key in a safe place in case you lose one of the originals; then you'll be able to program a replacement without involving the dealer. I have 4 Sentry keys for my truck, which I believe is the maximum.
