Took the probe back to O'rielly's today. Gave 'em the probe and my receipt, guy said no problem, have you a new one Monday. For once, something went RIGHT! Feels Good Oo.
edit: BTW, the turbos have since been rebuilt... they're working great!
My 3 year old Autometer Ultra-light Pyro gauge quit this morning. It's the older style that has the black power module box. The needle was'nt erratic, it just stopped working like it lost power.
I checked all connections. Everything's tight. Ground is OK. Power is OK.
I checked the resistance of the thermocouple when the truck was cold. About 20° ambient temp. I got 3. 0 Ohms. With the truck was fully warmed up and the exhaust temp should have been about 275° I got 12. 70 Ohms I guess the T-Couple is OK.
I will pull the gauge and black box and send to Autometer for repairs.
illflem, I think the Type K thermocouple is Chromel/Alumel. The chromel is chrome and nickel and the alumel is aluminum and nickel. The output is in millivolts. I spent some time in R&D years ago and actually had spools of each to make thermocouples with.
