I thought of mounting a one of the self winding extension cord units on my truck. For the block heater
Advantages would be.
-You only reel out what amout you really need.
-No tangled extension cord stored inside of truck when you go some where.
-If you have an oil pan heater it could be plugged in the unit also.

Does anyone know of a good unit that could possibly work ? Must work in cold weather without problems.
The next is where to mount it. Needs to have easy access. No binding or snagging of cord.

Jeff,I use several of these in my shop that I got from Grainger, about $25. Only problem is the roll up units say right on them to unroll all the way before use. I use mine partally unrolled all the time for intermetent use i. e. a hand drill, but one time I used one partally unrolled on a tractor block heater. Lucky I didn't go too far away,in about a half hour the rollup part was smoking. It's not that the cord is over-amped,the rolled up cord acts like a coil and gets hot. If you do use one cut it to the length you need so that it's totally unwound, you will have no problem then.
P. S. -wastegate went out yesterday.
