My new job requires me to drive over 100 miles total too and from work. The price of diesel is killing me. I'm thinking of selling the truck and purchasing a new Jetta TDI. With the TDI getting almost 50mpg and being I can almost pay cash for it I can save a whole lot of money. The only thing I really *need* the truck for is pulling my 2000 Jayco 30ft travel trailer. I only use it a couple of times a year so I will be selling that too. I've tried to post my truck in the classifieds here but it won't let me post for some reason. Maybe I can sell the truck and the Jayco for a package price. ;)

Nah! Keep the truck. At 50mpg the TDI can help pay for itself! My daily trip is 120 miles, often times more. Now you've got me thinkin'. A fellow can't have too many diesels, right?

I drive my truck 55 miles each way commuting every day. I used to have a Hyundai that I commuted in, but the girlfriend rolled it in the road ditch a few months ago. I told her that it was OK because it gave me a good excuse to buy another diesel (TDI Jetta). Why not keep the truck and get a Jetta or trade for a 2nd Gen and a Jetta?

Two months ago we got the Jetta TDI wagon (rated higher mpg than the sedan) and then sold the Aerostar. It is an interesting feeling not owning a gas burner, but we really love our diesels...

On the classifieds you need to sign up for an account on the classifieds - it doesn't use the same username and password as on the forums. When signing up and placing an ad read the screens carefully - the important stuff like which username/password is the classifieds and which is from the forums I put big flashing exclamation point signs to try to draw your attention to them.

I know what you mean, my fuel bill jumped to 400 a month. Talk about taking it the backside. If my work schedule is slow it's not bad, but if it picks up look out. That's I started being a right lane junky and driving around 60mph and no quick starts.

Yeah I signed up got the email then tried to log on. Logged on fine but it wouldn't let me post my classified add. I'll try again later tonight. Thanks!
