Good evening, fellas,

I am still working on trying to sell C. Carpenter's 6.4L HEMI (aka Hemi Elizabeth). She is advertised on CL, ebay, CarGurus.com, Autotrader, and Facebook Marketplace. Today I got a call from a used car dealer who claims they want to buy her, as truck inventory is very low. Concedes our asking price is fair (yes, I know that, KBB, without consideration to $15K in extras, plus a brand new $10K ATS Billet (packing purple) trans). Says he can come close. We are going to show the rig to him manana, but I have very low expectations. Also says they get a Power of Attorney--told him I was a lawyer, did not see any need for that. What is up with that? I bet some of yous have some speriance with this? STS is listening...

I have never heard of a power of attorney needed for a car sale unless you are not the registered owner, name on title or name on loan if there is one.

When I bought the ‘21 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Willys on September 18th, I traded in a vehicle, and signed a POA simply for the title work on my trade in. I’d purchased two other vehicles from them previously (and will be a fourth in the future :D ) so I trusted them without any issues.

BCBender gets the gold legal star today. I would never have thought of this, but it now seems obvious! In Texas, the sales tax on $30K is $1,800. I will report back, as we meet up with them today. C. Carpenter's new truck (ordered 9/23) will not ready for pick up till end of year at earliest, good chance it will be Jan or even Feb, so we have some time. I am checking with dealer to see what they would offer on trade.

GS, what do they call colors like your Jeep that are solid? Not the name of your Jeeps color but in general they have to have a name.

These types of colors seem to be the new thing in paint choices.

I’d best describe it as basically just a single pigment paint with clear coat for gloss.....sans any type of metallic, flakes, or pearl coat.

The ol’ 2013 RAM 3500 Tradesman Crew Cab in New Holland Blue was basically another color like the Sting Gray on the Wrangler.....

OK. This string is about selling my C. Carpenter's Hemi Elizabeth dually. So...we kept the appt at the fancy used car palace today. The sales dude was a millenial, very long hair tied up in a doubled back pony tail, tattoo emerging toward his open collar, left me curious, but not so much. I am all about hair, but nice grooming is essential. The broccoli (may have been asparagus) rubberband around his hair did not appeal. Upon arrival, he was sizing me up, lots of glad handing, so nice you came in today, thank you for coming in, do you notice my disingenous gushing? I remained flat, unreadable, and C. Carpenter hid behind his covid mask. CC told them all about the Hemi, all the proactive maintenance he has done, all the extra extras for performance and off road, brand new Cooper tires, new ATS Billet trans, new Banks stripey underpants (diff cover), Fox shocks all around, loads of puffed up suspension and steering goodies, the works, not to mention this white/diamond plate jewel just sparkles in the sunlight...bottom line, they came back "offering" 90% of CC's price, not good enough. The sales dude already said that our price--top of KBB, with nothing added for all the extras, including the $10K trans and $2K for new rubber X 6--that our price was fair and reasonable. They "offered" 90% of our price, telling us they are confident they can sell it for at least what we are asking. My guess is that they would put it on their lot/website for $42K-$45K, based on the prices I am seeing on their site for other rides. They refused to put their "offer" in writing. Sales of goods for items valued at $500K or more must be written to be enforceable--universal of most jurisdictions. This was very bothersome to me. Pressured us, saying "offer" only good for 1 day. Hmmmm. Then, when we got in to leave, no key! CC started to walk back in for it, but I stopped him...told him this was a trick, trying to separate us so they could pressure him without MamaBear in earshot. MamaBear is a smart cookie...she left CC in the truck, and she went in and obtained the key. Sales dude's body language spoke volumes...did not like MamaBear. Cannot imagine why...how often does a tall gorgeous brunette come waltzing in to their dealership in her SteelToeStilettos looking to make a fair deal? Just sayin'...

Have you been to CAR MAX and see what they would offer. My daughter-in-law sold her Nissan to Car MAX and received $500 more than the dealer would offer on a trade-in. It seems like a lot of dealers in the Chicagoland area are either buying at the CAR MAX price or slightly below.

I know that when we purchased our Hyundai Santa-FE, the dealer wanted to know what the Car MAX traded in offer was. My wife informed them that was our personal business and what were they going to offer. After heavy negotiations my wife and I were able to get $7,000 for a 2011 VW Jetta TDI in traded in value.

Just a suggestion.

I put a lot of money in perf parts and replacement parts in my 2004, none of which brought any "value" at the end (some I pulled off when I sold it). I did get near what I paid for the truck back when I sold it last DEC, so I feel that was fair for 10y / 100k usage and I enjoyed it for that time so I was happy.. Don't get too hung up on the bling and upgrades as not everyone cares. Personally I take meticulous care of all my vehicles, track maintenance, keep clean, do all my service, etc.. but most don't and don't care, at the end, it doesn't seem to bring that much more when it comes to parting with them unless you find the right person which may take a long time. I tell people all the time in the shows I go to " ya it may be worth that to the person that needs it or wants it"

Aftermarket accessories are a lot like jewelry when it comes to resale. A jeweler doesn't care how much you paid for the cut/inlay/whatever... how much does it weigh, and that's what you get in trade.

Hi-ya fellas! Have you missed me? Guess what? We sold C. Carpenter's Hemi! Yep, it is true. Got a great price. Giant man (6'8") came all the way down from Iowa City to Dallas to pick it up. He couldn't believe how spotless Hemi Elizabeth was, how gorgeous she purred with the sexy Flowmaster tail pipe, all the muscle of the purple transmission and all the extras that C. Carpenter put on her. CC was super pleased to find such a suitable buyer who really seemed to understand and appreciate all the maintenance he has done she purchasing her new. It worked out well for all concerned. Surprisingly, CC has not been grieving. He is excited about his new Cummins Longhorn. Bought himself a new toolchest, and every payday he purchases new tools in coordinating colors to take care of Cummins Elizabeth--it is too funny...it is like he is waiting for the birth of his next child, stocking her nursery little by little. Tomorrow I will try to take a piccie of the tool nursery to share.

Oh, he'll miss it... but wont tell anybody. I love my 20' but sometimes long for the old 5.9 roar with no emissions and all her rattles.., and that sound n smell....
Cant say I miss rowing the NV5600 tho,,... unless that one time I need to drop a gear and Trollip to pass someone... NO DEAD PEDAL there..:D.

Ground Squirrel, the sticker is not photo shopped as you suggest. Its placement on the hood is such that it is just out of view in the 2nd photo, eclipsed by the mirror. None of the photos promoting this truck are photo shopped. We are real here. Your comment was not appreciated.
