wiring alt tach signal to gas factory tach.

Well it has been an adventure. I had alot of fun proving to others that I could repower a firebird with a diesel. While the firebird is unique and fun to drive it was a challenge that I agreed to do. Now I want to move on to another project, and in order to fund my other project I need to sell the firebird. So here is the question. Is any one intrested in buying this unique, one of a kind, Firebird? Please Call me with questions 864-979-0590, or e-mail me.

My next project is a Garage. I am so tired of working in the dirt or bumming a garage from a friend. I want to do some more engine swaps in the future. I would like to put a 4bt in a 1970 Pont Lemans 4dr. But I want to do it a little bit differently than I approached this last project. I want to do frame off, a 2/3 drop, 18" rims, I want the engine to have either a inline fuel pump or the ISB 4bt. Maybe run 400 hp.

Ya know I almost would trade you for the beetle. Does it run Good? How bout the mileage?

I totally know what you mean about the garage... I'm building one right now. My first engine swap project to work on in the new garage involves a common-rail 3. 9L ISB/Allison combo that is destined for a Jeep. It should be fun.

A '70 LeMans would have enough room under the hood for a B5. 9 or a 5. 9L ISB... there's an old Monte Carlo on YouTube with 5. 9L (VP-44) ISB under the hood and it fit like OEM!!! YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

The Beetle runs fine - has around 158k on the clock and gets between 41 and 46mpg depending on the fuel (winter/summer) and how heavy my right foot is.

I didn't think you'd be somewhat serious about trading - too bad we don't live closer - we could test crash each other's vehicles and go from there. I'd love to see the 4BT powered F-body even if I wasn't looking at it to buy/trade...

Drop me an email through the TDR - even if we don't trade, I'd still like to keep in touch.

Matt

Yeah you are a trek away. I would consider trading if you were closer. My wife would like the bug better. I am suprised that it only gets 41-46 mpg. I would have guessed more. I have a friend with the TDI in his 98 jetta gets 55mpg. I listed the car in the TDR classifieds.

It seems at times that I'm a trek away from a lot of things - but I still wouldn't trade living up here for anything.

My first TDI (another '98 NB) got better mileage than this one - never really figured out why. If it ever drops below 40mpg, then I'll worry. My wife's '00 Jetta TDI with almost 320,000mi on it gets closer to 50mpg, but she drives very conservatively and that car has had a VERY easy life.

Best of luck selling the car and building a garage!

Matt
