Hi, I've been looking into swapping out my auto for an nv5600. After finding out I would spend in excess of 5k, I said screw that. Nothing is wrong with my 47re, had it built right 70k miles ago, still shifts strong, just tired of driving a boring slushbox, plus the excessive wear on the brakes, and drain on mpg. I love the truck, but I'd love to have a six speed more. So what would be a fair price to ask for it. Figured I should sell it outright rather than get hosed at the stealership. It has 190k, new mastercraft A/T tires on M/T 16x8 rims, replaced heater core and evaporator last fall, borgeson gear box, new oem steering shaft, ATS exhaust manifold, DDRP on frame rail with 1/2" line, new brakes all around, tight front end, crew cab, long bed, 4x4, 4. 10, plus the built auto, I keep it very clean, follow all maintenance intervals, both diffs have synthetic. I'm looking at an 01-03 truck, but would go newer if price is right. Pic of it to get a better idea. Thanks.

How's the rust?

I'm actually selling my 08 now, looking to get a 99-02. I want a manual as well, don't care if it's a 4500 or 5600, however I've got a buddy who will swap his 4500 for an auto in a heartbeat so I'm not too concerned.

I know a guy that just purchased an 01, w/240k for like 14k with rotted doors (lower) and another guy that just got a 99 w/80k that's all done up (lifted, big tires, trans done, big turbo, injectors, gauges etc = really nice looking too) for like 18k.

From the picture your "white" truck looks pretty clean and w/190k its no where near "mid life" so I'd take a stab at around 12 - 15.

Kelly Blue Book puts it at 8455 in excellent shape, 8055 in good and 7430 in fair = not a good sounding board the 190k miles really kills things on KBB.

NADA was a little kinder and placed it at 10400 "Clean Retail"

I'm still thinking its in the 12 - 15 range based on the info you've provided and what I've seen recently purchased.

Wow, that seems high for the 01, esp. with rotted doors. I like the idea of getting a truck with 4 wheel disc and two piston calipers though. I just picked my truck up from the garage, had the brakes worked on again while I was in Kentucky. Flushed the whole system and put dot 4 synthetic in, new rear axle seals and premium shoes. I hadnt driven the truck for a few weeks and the brake pedal felt stiffer than it had in years. I really love the truck, my wife doesnt want me to get rid of it. Also, I had an issue with rust on the doors, had them grinded down and put a rust inhibitor on them and then sprayed rhino liner on them, thats why the bottom is black. If I could I would keep it and buy another truck with manual trans, but cant justify that. Thanks for all the info, If I list it, I'll ask 15k for it, still on the fence yet

Wow. I've been looking at stuff around the SE area and 2nd gen trucks seem to be going for 10-14k in excellent condition with under 100k. I'd never pay over 15k for one with any rust or more than 100k, that's just crazy.

I'm going to be placing mine on the market as well in the near future (interestingly for the same reason, I really want a manual truck, I'd also like to step back to a 12V). Mine has 254k and starting to show some fender rust (doors are still pretty solid). I was planning to ask $8000 when I put it on C-list.

every area of the country has a different value listed for vehicles on KBB and auto trader, I sold my 02 3500 HO dually 2 years ago for 13000 (diesels were "soft" then) worst move I ever made, took 2 years of looking, but I just found one. 01 with 140k nv4500, airdog prep. 80hp sticks, air and exhaust, 315 toyos, (2500 LB) lived its life in Nevada (NO RUST!!!) private owner, 13,000. oo. But for your question, I learned something from an OLD car salesman I'll share with ya, the TRUE value of whatever you are selling is, WHATEVER you can get the buyer to pay!!! (from my prospective, I'll say dont sell your truck short, you must have liked it for a long time, took good care of it, and like mine, your wife will give you grief for selling,so make sure you get enough to replace it IMMEDIATELY. good luck volsfan

thats cool, my old signature just showed up from years ago(never change it when I bought my 02) guess I'll have to change it when I go monday to pick up the "new"01

VolsFan, I've been thinking about this a while . . . I know what you mean about driving an automatic and the "lure" to go to a stick. They're fun to drive and all that, but for a daily driver I'll take the automatic hands down. I guess it really depends on your situations: where you live, traffic or not, do you tow, go off road, etc. etc. For me, I'm in suburbia and drive a whopping 3 miles to work in moderate traffic, don't haul anything and like to "play" with the other supposed hot rods around town - they laugh at me when I look over and down and shake my head, as they're revving their tin can chrome hemorrhoids hanging under their plastic bumpers, yeah they laugh until I'm gone leaving them in a black cloud. Same with the brand X diesel trucks, the gasser pickups are even more fun than the diesels. So, for me, I'm sticking with the auto.

How about just keeping your truck and getting a mini pickup with a stick to cure the urge for driving a stick . . .

The wife and I just got back in from elk county PA. Took the truck up there, about a four hour drive, and had a great time. It ran perfectly, and I got 18. 2 mpg. She doesnt want me to get rid of it, so unless I see a deal on a manual truck that I cant turn down, Im gonna hold on to it, I guess its more sentimental than anything. She said Im going through an early mid life crisis, I'm 27! Thanks for all the info

starts the first time your introduced to HP... . and gets much worse the older you get... make sure you figure out how to makes lots of money to feed it... it gets really, really expensive the older you get

... ... ..... ;)

As far as I know the male mid-life crisis involves the wanting of a motor cycle

I've hit the mid life crisis twice then. The only time I really wanted a motorcycle was when I came home from vietnam. Of course though, I was a lot older then than I am now.

:-laf Good one, doesn't the song go "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now" ;)

Thanks for your service brother.

exhaust brake would be sweet, figured it was probably more trouble than its worth with an auto though, although i know theres plenty of guys on here that have them paired with an automatic, never met anybody personally though w/ one other than on 5 or 6 spds.
