How are Nitto Terra Grapplers?

The Parnelli Jones Dirtgrips (35/12. 5/R17E) are too much for city driving.

Thinking about Nitto's 285/70/R17E's. How loud/quiet are they?

Just put nitto terra grapplers on mine last week to replace the bfg rugged trail (OEM). So far love the tires. Higher load rating, smoother ride (potholes much smoother). I like everything about them better than what I had EXCEPT there's a bit more of a floating feeling than OEM. If I jerk the wheel to quickly move over a foot or two in the lane, the back end takes about a second to catch up. It's worse with these tires, even running 80 lbs of pressure. I'm thinking that the tires have a softer compound, and/or there is less contact with the road than the OEM tires because these have a more aggressive tread even though they are almost an inch wider. Maybe a sway bar will help? I'm looking in to options. All in all I like them a lot better. As a note, I spent about 2 months researching different tires. My requirements were: stock tire is 31. 4" tall, I wanted a 33" or 35", load rating had to be an "E", and I wanted an all terrain or mud terrain pattern. The Nitto and the BFG A/T's were the tires I kept coming back to. If you're interested, I have an excel spreadsheet with every tire made (that I could find) that fits that criteria.

p. s. they're almost as quiet as OEM. I can run any speed and still have a normal conversation without having to raise my voice

I've had BFG, Brigestone, Firestone, Cooper and the Nitto TGs are the nicest so far. Smooth, quiet, true laod range "E" and balance well. Got them on line Tiresdirect.com I think.

My Nittos wore out very fast maybe 10k miles. My Toyo ATs seem to be lasting much better and are just as quiet.

That's interesting Luke was there something wrong with the alignment, or were they not properly inflated/balanced:confused:? I've had mine on for 12k now and they are still like new - even wear, smooth, etc. Oo.

Mine wouldnt last long either with mach 6s and a 64 :-laf :D :-laf :D

I have terra grapplers on my truck and they are great for city, cant hear them over the motor anyways :-laf only had them 6k or so but still look like new

I just bought a new set of 295/70-17 Nitto TG's after putting 49k on my last set. They are quiet, smooth and not bad off road. Got them for 175/ea. shipped from discountiredirect.com. They are D rated at 3415 per at 65psi. Only tow about 4K boat/trailer. Hope this helps.

Wow, thats very unfortunate. I just had my new terra grapplers put on today, after running my old ones for 40,000 miles. I loved the old ones, and look forward to many miles out of these ones.

wow ive gat about 7,k on mine now and am still very pleased wearing very well. they are very quiet. and for the price you cant beat em

LOL my Toyos seem to appreciate the Mach6s a lot more than the Nittos did. Alignment was fine. Not sure why the Toyos are lasting so much better. Just sharing my experience.

My Nittos are quiet as the stockers.

I get about 50,000km out of a set... .

Cant get them in Canada so I have to import them (gets expensive in a hurry!)
